Dragonfield changes
Alpha 10 has arrived! It contains a full overhaul of the crossbow and some other tweaks, fixes and changes.
The crossbow has been fully overhauled!
It now takes just a single bolt to the chest or head to defeat an enemy!
To be fully accurate, aiming is now required. If you want to risk it, you can fire from the hip too, but with lowered accuracy.
Aiming and firing feel much smoother with a completely new set of animations and an improved weapon system.
Projectiles have received a full overhaul as well, to provide more accurate and fast hit detection.
Additionally, all projectile trail effects have been reworked to look more smooth and volumetric, crossbow trails are now longer and more visible to make seeing where a bolt went easier
Another important change has been made to bot spawning behavior. Enemies and allies will no longer spawn on contested objectives making capturing them easier and overall leading to more dynamic battles

The Crossbow Overhaul Update
Fully overhauled the way the crossbow works!
It now takes just a single bolt to the chest or head to defeat an enemy
Fully overhauled all crossbow animations
You can now stay aimed/zoomed-in after firing to see where a projectile is going. Reload by unaiming or pressing fire again
Added a new dynamic crosshair system
All weapons using ammo can now be reloaded with [R], though all current weapons usually reload automatically. This is just for potential future weapons and in preparation for any modded weapons coming to the game
Kicking now interrupts reloads
Mouse sensitivity whilst aiming is now relative to a weapons zoom so you can aim more accurately
Aim zoom speeds are now perfectly synchronized and consistent with the actual aiming movement of the weapon resulting in even smoother aiming behavior
Numerous smaller improvements to bow and crossbow animation behavior making it feel more smooth overall
Fully overhauled arrow and bolt collision detection to be more precise and responsive, arrows wont look unnaturally rotated or seemingly float in the air anymore after hitting something, especially at lower frame rates
Projectiles can now have different weight values, for example crossbow bolts are lighter than arrows and travel farther
Maps
So much time has passed since the last update, the trees on the map Borderline have grown much taller. And some rocks have also appeared somehow
Added ammunition stands to the center tower and stables on the map Borderline
Improvements and other additions
Burning horses now emit light :(
Melee collision detection is now even more thorough which should make it feel more consistent at very high or very low frame rates
Projectiles can now deflect off of shields if the angle of impact is low enough
Projectiles now bounce off of objects more accurately
Projectiles now properly apply force to objects like helmets and dropped weapons.
Visuals
Projectiles like arrows and bolts now have new trail effects, making it easier to spot where they are going
Added additional impact effect to ballista projectiles to make it easier to spot where and when they landed
