addedI know, it's only been 5 days, but we have a name now for Water's Bounty, and a theme song as well. I mostly did pixel art yesterday and a bit this morning, but the ship's deck is mostly done. I still have to add some filler item on the quarter deck, and add an anchor as well, but other than that, this should be the deck for a two mast ship.
added(There will be a auto run RPG Maker movie that plays after you pick your character, and then you end up in the town. I just haven't made that yet. But that movie will explain why you are mute. I also haven't setup night and day cycles yet, but each day will cost you 1 food and water per crew member. This will cause you to need to upgrade your ship to make longer journeys and carry more food and water.) The enemy AI as you can see in the end of this video, is coming along well. I have the second radius of blocks done and am getting ready to do the calculations to create the third radius, and then I just have to program the AI and tell it how to act. I am taking this process slow because it is a huge strain to do even just one block's programming. I have to basically use an AI tracking system each time an enemy ship moves so it can tell if something is in it's way. This way it doesn't waste a turn, and instead goes around that ship to still attack you. Like I said before, this is a chess AI program in a way that is programmed to make the best possible move against you every single time. Don't worry though, this will not seem overpowered because I will balance the player's ship's hull and cannons to make sure the game is fun and feels balanced. The reason for the name Water's Bounty is this game you are a mute pirate that has a snarky and mouthy pirate kid with you that is your voice. You start off with just 2,500 gold, and your first ship will cost 1,200 gold, and another 500 gold if you want cannons. After exploring the world, you will run into other pirates looking for a new crew. You can persuade them to join your crew to fight the evil trading company that is taking over the world and killing off any competition. To upgrade your ship, you have to invest in the ship shops, but also find and bring back certain materials as well. Using trade routes, and a moving economy as well, you will have to do what you can to build your crew and take on some of the deadliest pirates, soldiers, traders, and the company. The world map will be planet based, and it will loop east and west, and have ice caps blocking north and south. If you run out of food and water, you can purchase it, or fight for it on land as well. This is an open game for you to explore, and has a story buried deep inside of the world. Can you avenge your parents death?
