Hello, Hikers!
In this forest, darkness is not merely the absence of light. It is a tangible threat, just waiting for your torch to go out. To ensure your chances of escaping the thicket don’t drop to zero, we’ve completely overhauled the matches.
When panic sets in and the darkness closes in, strike the box. Your character will take out and light a single match. You’ll have exactly 10 seconds of a dim, flickering flame to look around and get your bearings.
What’s changed:
Throw: You can throw a lit match forward to illuminate a suspicious bush or path. After it lands, it will smoulder on the ground for a couple more seconds.
Quick ignition: If you throw a lit match directly into a fire pit, it will instantly dispel the darkness - the fire will ignite on its own for 5 seconds.
Resource consumption: A used match disappears forever. Every attempt to keep warm or light your way inexorably reduces your chances of survival in the dark. Use them sparingly.
We’ve also added rich, realistic sounds of crackling and the quiet crack of burning wood.
Keep your feet warm and your matches dry. The forest makes no mistakes.
