removedThe multitool is the most essential device of every Cosminer — a versatile instrument that enables survival, progress, and defense on the planet. Work continues on the implementation of a completely redesigned multitool laser system . These mining lasers are no longer static tools — they now adapt dynamically to both their intended function and the level of upgrades ( color-coded power levels: red, orange, violet ) and beam spread (narrow version currently implemented; moderate and wide versions in development) applied by the player. Whether used for mineral extraction , cutting , or defensive applications , each laser beam now changes in visual form, intensity, and effect, reflecting the player's evolving mining strategy and technological progress.
addedBeyond mining, the multitool is also used for repairing damaged infrastructure — useful feature after environmental hazards. Additionally, Cosminers will rely on it to defend themselves from aggressive life forms inhabiting the planet. Several firing modes are available: the energy launcher , which charges to deliver high-damage blasts , and the plasma gun , which enables rapid-fire bursts . This expanded functionality adds meaningful tactical variety and rewards experimentation with different tool configurations and combat styles.
