Surviving the Underground

Before sending you to Tau Ceti F, we need to introduce you to your workplace, this will certainly help you successfully complete your mission and return to the surface. In today's lecture, we will talk about the undergrounds – the topics we will discuss include resources, threats, biomes, underground events, and the tools available to help you navigate the dark tunnels.

Biomes

Tau Ceti F hides a variety of dangerous biomes, where each level of caves tells its own story. These caves change with depth, creating almost separate ecosystems. The highest levels are unstable and full of fragile formations, while deeper down crystals begin to dominate the geology and even emit powerful energy.

Sandstone Biome

The Sandstone Biome is a sandy expanse, where twisted cave labyrinths are filled with towering stalagmites, hanging stalactites, and clusters of crystal bushes and luminescent mushrooms. Frequent earthquakes and unstable rocks make every step deadly dangerous.

Crystal Biome

This place looks like the inside of a living prism. Light bends and scatters across multilayered crystal formations, illuminating natural chambers and creating an atmosphere that feels more like a dream than a planetary structure. Don't be fooled by this beautiful image, this cave can hide a lot of danger.

Resources

Our research indicates that the planet Tau Ceti F has very rich deposits of rare minerals, which ended up or aren't present on Earth. At this point, we have managed to identify the three most common minerals. As you gain experience in mining, it is possible that You will begin to learn about new minerals found in this location.Steam post image

Tritanium

This is the most common resource found underground. It appears very frequently just below the planet surface, and its deposits are very rich. You can use it to build defence systems, upgrade your base, or craft various items.

Gold

As you can see, Tau Ceti F also has resources known on Earth. From what we have observed, gold deposits are rarer than Tritanium and much smaller. You will use it in the production of defence mechanisms and the creation of items in the printer.

Crystalite

Scientists from our laboratories still do not know how it is possible for this plant to grow underground and produce this amazing glowing resource. The crystals will be used in the production of batteries for multitool and other advanced technologies.

Threats

There are various dangers underground, from natural phenomena to monsters that live in the darkness. Be careful, the deeper you dig, the more dangerous your surroundings may become.

Sporocysts

We don't fully understand how they appeared in the mines and how they are able to survive there. Individually, they may not be a serious threat, but when they appear in groups, they can pose a powerful danger. They shoot fast electric charges that can kill miner. Steam post image

Charged Crystal Spire

These enormous crystals form in random locations, but as with Crystalite, they remain something of a mystery to our scientists. All we know at this point is that if cosminers get too close, they may be electrocuted by the energy contained within the crystal - but don’t worry, they can simply be destroyed, providing you with additional resources.

Events

The planet can be very unpredictable, with truly strange anomalies occurring at random moments. At this point, we don’t know what causes some of them, but we hope that your stay on the planet will provide us with more valuable informations.

Earthquake

Our seismographs installed at the base occasionally record high magnitudes. These are not maximum values, but they can slightly change the environment by collapsing a wall and unlocking previously unexplored areas. Remember that newly discovered places may be an opportunity to find valuable minerals or a threat related to creatures living in the darkness.

Beacon

When moving around such a large space, it is easy to lose your bearings, but this is where Beacon come in handy. They are the primary source of light underground. You can place them wherever you want, assign them a colour and brightness or use them as markers on the minimap. It will certainly make it easier for you or your colleagues to navigate underground.
