We've shown the reality warping fold immune keys previously. We're exploring those properties with other mechanics as well.

Even more reality warping

One of the things we're trying is fold immune and normal element pairs that are chained to each other.

When folding, one moves while the other doesn't. They still remain connected. So this allows transmitting electricity and other interactions.

Here the right part of the circuit pair is fold immune but the left one isn't. You can fold to let the left section reach different parts of the level while the right connects to other things. This results in interesting situations as the circuit elements previously had to always be aligned to affect each other.

We'll continue exploring this paired setup for other mechanics as well.

Sky-bending Parallax

One of the things we've always wanted to do was parallax backgrounds similar to other platformers. This requires the camera to move and the level to be too big to fit in a single single screen. However, from a puzzle design perspective, it's more preferrable to have all puzzle elements visible in the screen.

Our solution was to lean into the game's unique aspects instead. In the game. the world moves when you fold. Instead of using camera motion, we use the world motion to move the background layers.

Move mountains and then the stars themselves.

Most levels won't have such extreme parallax. We're planning to use the parallax elements to give each biome a separate identity. As for the stars, we have more surprises involving them.
