What changed

0 fixes4 additions2 changes0 removals
  • Gameplay
  • UI and audio
addedMUSICMost of these are completely new tracks, however, you may remember that in our last update, I mentioned that the current songs have been pretty hit or miss. I honestly agree. Those songs were made by me, and I'm not the best at making songs, but we now have a proper composer, who is actually skilled at music!
changedMUSICWe haven't finalised this yet, but we're either gonna start working to remix some of the songs to sound way better, or we're gonna scrap them. once again, this has not been finalised yet.
addedLOGO UPDATESI also found some time for a little refresh on the game's logo, I haven't finished this just yet, still got some more artwork to make, but who doesn't mind a little sneak preview of the new logo? Take a look!
changedReworking Core MechanicsAs said before, a lot of the core gameplay of Circular Fever is a little outdated, and needs to be reworked. Let me tell you, THIS TAKES A LONG TIME so I'm still working on this one. But it's looking promising so far! This is currently my top priority, once this is finished, we can work more on other features.
addedCustomisationMaybe you don't like the new sprites, maybe you just want a change! We're also working on customising things like: noteskins, hitsounds, hit effects and even more! More news on this shortly
addedAND THAT'S A WRAP!That's all we got for this month! Sorry there weren't many new things to share, but I hope this was enough to keep you guys content for now. We're working on this slowly but surely!

Hey Everyone!

I'm Excelior, the lead developer of Circular Fever!

It's been a little while since our last post, and that's for good reason! We've been working hard on Circular Fever throughout this month, and although work has been slow but steady, we ARE making progress, and I am ready to show you guys a little sneak peek at what we've been up to.

This is the start of monthly devlogs that will basically be a quick summary of what we did this month, and will be posted on the first of every month for the prior month (eg: March 1st = February Devlog)

So let's get started!

MUSIC

We've been working on refreshing the OST, as mentioned in our last post, and we have made some progress! First of all, we've decided on a song count! OST 1 will be available at launch, and will contain 8 songs! You might have seen a little sneak peek of OST 1's selection in the Demo.

Most of these are completely new tracks, however, you may remember that in our last update, I mentioned that the current songs have been pretty hit or miss. I honestly agree. Those songs were made by me, and I'm not the best at making songs, but we now have a proper composer, who is actually skilled at music!

We haven't finalised this yet, but we're either gonna start working to remix some of the songs to sound way better, or we're gonna scrap them. once again, this has not been finalised yet.

Anyway, enough of the explaining what's been going on with the music, I know what you want. You want a preview of one of our songs! Well I'll do you one better, how about a full song AND a preview of another song!

The full song is Birds and Bees! This will be used in the sho- somewhere in the main menu! yeah.. that's not finished yet, you're gonna have to wait a while before you see that.

Now for a treat! I've personally been thinking about difficulty, not everyone wants easy levels. So I got our composer working on a song that will be used for a REALLY really hard level. Here is a preview of this song! trust me, you aren't ready for what I have planned.

Phew! We're finally done with the music section, I personally believe this section is really important, it's literally the foundation of the entire game!

LOGO UPDATES

I also found some time for a little refresh on the game's logo, I haven't finished this just yet, still got some more artwork to make, but who doesn't mind a little sneak preview of the new logo? Take a look!

GAME UPDATES

Alright, we've delayed enough. What have we done to the actual GAME this month? Well I'm gonna be honest, not a whole lot is actually finished and ready to show just yet. We spent a lot of this month outlining what we need to do before launch, which is an important step in game development.

However, I can tell you what we are working on right now, and hopefully show you these next month!

Reworking Core Mechanics

As said before, a lot of the core gameplay of Circular Fever is a little outdated, and needs to be reworked. Let me tell you, THIS TAKES A LONG TIME so I'm still working on this one. But it's looking promising so far! This is currently my top priority, once this is finished, we can work more on other features.

New Sprites

We've refreshed the note sprites for the game! These are actually finished, so I can give you a quick look!

Customisation

Maybe you don't like the new sprites, maybe you just want a change! We're also working on customising things like: noteskins, hitsounds, hit effects and even more! More news on this shortly

AND THAT'S A WRAP!

That's all we got for this month! Sorry there weren't many new things to share, but I hope this was enough to keep you guys content for now. We're working on this slowly but surely!
