changedI'd also like to thank my wife for encouraging me along the way when, at times, my morale was low. If you decided to purchase the game, whether as a streamer or viewer, thank you so much for checking it out and I really hope your community enjoys their time with it. I created Chat Champions because I love the livestreaming community and wanted to connect streamers to their audiences in a fun, easy way.

Chat Champions 1.0 is finally here! Thank you to everyone who helped make this game possible, from critically important testers to the other talented artists and programmers who pitched in along the way. For myself, this was a nearly 3-year journey I wasn't always sure would see the light of day, but I'm happy to say that I stuck with it, and am extremely proud of 1.0.

This isn't the end of Chat Champions, though! I have big plans for additional content and features -- if you're interested in those, you can read more at the bottom of this post. For now -- patch notes!

1.0 changes/additions:

UI/Options

  • added a Display Twitch Avatars toggle to the Display settings

  • improved text input fields

  • added in-game emote size + duration options to the Display settings

  • added support for Custom Chat Commands in Twitch settings

  • added quick battle option in Battle settings menu (you can also hold CTRL+Q as the game boots up)

  • in-game emotes are now displayed in post-round chat bubbles (on, for example, the MVP post-round card)

  • added an Automatic Upgrade Selection feature in the Settings menu which randomly selects an upgrade for players who did not vote for one

Combat

  • new game mode added -- Desktop Idle

Desktop Idle is a special mode which alters aspects of the game in order to serve as a drop in/out interactive element for your stream. The battle sits at the bottom of your screen, and, coupled with Chromakey Mode, Chat Champions is now the perfect companion for moments where you'd like to feature it as an appetizer, not the main course. Players may !join as usual, but are removed after a chat inactivity period of 1 hour. This pared-down experience still grants players XP as well as gold for participating, but does not feature Battle Mods or Upgrades.

Other

  • added an HP scaling toggle to the Settings menu

  • added !roll X command, which will return a random number between 1-X

  • added a number of background music tracks + other sounds

  • changed Battle Mod voting method from 1 and 2 to A and B (to avoid AutoMod identical message detection)

What's coming in the future?

In a future content patch, you can expect:

  • additional Viewer Mode benefits (special chat commands, emotes, and... pets?!)

  • new game modes

  • new level sets

  • new Upgrades and Battle Mods

  • automatic Twitch channel point prediction support

  • more custom chat command effects

  • new post-round content

  • new mini-games

  • further customization support for game modes

  • more character + weapon skins and, of course, hats!
