Chaos Islands changes
Hello Explorers!
March has been packed with new content and some major improvements across the board. From visual upgrades to brand new gameplay systems, we’ve been focused on deepening the player experience and making each run through Chaos Islands feel more exciting.
Let’s take a look at everything that was added last month!
Boss Buffs
To make boss fights more dynamic and challenging, we added a set of new randomized buffs that can appear on bosses during encounters:
Berserker – Deals more damage when low on health.
Regenerator – Restores health points at the start of each turn.
Aggressor – Attacks deal 1.5× damage.
Beefy – Takes 25% reduced damage.
Hellborn – Resistant to fire damage.
Thick Skin – Max HP increased by 50%.
New Enemies
We introduced several new enemy types last month, expanding the range of challenges players will face:
Infested + zulk
Infested demon carries a parasite, zulk, that will be spawned after the host's death unless the player uses special cards or defensive constructions to prevent that.
We also had a funny bug during the development of that enemy – accidentally we created a very powerful boss.
Summoner
A dangerous and beefy enemy that can summon reinforcements if the player does not deal with him quickly.
Necromancer
Their job is to bring the dead back to life using pile of bones – and create chaos on the battlefield.
When enemies die, they now leave behind a Pile of Bones. If necromancer units are present (or arrive later), they can use these piles to resurrect fallen enemies.
In some battles, bone piles may even be placed on the field before combat starts. So players will have to take care of them before the battle to avoid a bigger threat.
Node Map Updates
We continued developing the node map by adding new mechanics as well as slowly improving visual style.
What's New:
Playable Nodes - These are nodes that launch an actual game session, requiring players to complete an in-game challenge to proceed.
Event Nodes were implemented. These offer narrative-style choices - some helpful, some... not so much.
Locks & Keys Some paths will be locked and require keys to unlock - so players will have to do some exploration in order to find a key or another path.
New Environment: Lake Tile
To break up the chaos with some serenity, we added a Lake tile type. Expect to find this peaceful feature on some islands during your journey.
And that’s all for this month! We’ll continue expanding enemy types, balancing the new gameplay systems, and preparing more progression surprises in the coming month!
➡️ We encourage you to join our Discord. We are posting updates each week and we would like to chat with you :)
Until next time!
