Chaos Islands changes
Hello everyone!
Welcome to this month’s Chaos Islands Dev Report! Over the past few weeks, we’ve been hard at work improving the game, refining its systems, and introducing new content. Here’s what we’ve been up to!
Progression System Updates
Progression is a core aspect of Chaos Islands, and we’ve made significant strides in developing its mechanics.
The node generation algorithm is now complete! This was a crucial step in designing the game’s progression system, allowing us to create a dynamic and engaging experience for players.
With the algorithm in place, we’ve started working on player movement mechanics, different node types, and interaction mechanics to bring the system to life and showcase them on incoming playtests.
Additionally, we are constantly working on improving the visuals, ensuring they fit seamlessly into the evolving gameplay experience.
Enhancing UX and UI
Improving player experience is always a priority, and we’ve made a few key adjustments:
Card Descriptions - We’ve enhanced card descriptions by adding icons and refining the design to make their effects clearer.
Season UI - While season effects were already present in the buffs section, playtesters often overlooked them. To address this, we’ve introduced a new UI element near the season clock, ensuring players can easily see the current season’s impact.
We’ve also fixed several bugs discovered during recent playtests, leading to a smoother gameplay experience.
New Enemies Enter the Fray!
Combat is getting more intense with the addition of several new enemy types, each bringing unique mechanics to challenge players:
Shaman – Places demonic wards around the map to boost other demons.
Infested – Spawns an Imp upon death.
Imp – A smaller, more agile version of the Minion demon.
Summoner – Continuously spawns Imps around itself.
Lich – Has the ability to revive fallen demons, making battles even more unpredictable.
Bomber – Explodes upon death, dealing damage to surrounding tiles.
We are also working on additional demon types, which we hope to reveal in the near future!
New Defense Constructions
To counter these new threats, we’ve introduced powerful defensive structures to aid players in battle:
Ice Tower – Freezes enemies for a few turns.
Fire Tower – Sets enemies and surrounding tiles on fire.
These defenses come with a fun interaction mechanic: fire cancels ice and vice versa. Additionally, the Fire Tower won’t be as effective during rain or snowstorms, adding another layer of strategy to the game!
What’s Next?
As development continues, we’re focused on refining progression, introducing more engaging enemies, and improving gameplay balance. We can’t wait to share more with you in our next updates!
Thank you for your continued support and feedback—it truly helps us shape Chaos Islands into the best game it can be.
