If this is your first time seeing this game, then welcome. It’s been a long time in the making, the Itch version of Casualties: Unknown has accumulated over 300,000 downloads since it’s original release on Itch December 31st, 2024. Since then, 24,000 friendly faces have decided to come hang out in the Discord which is crazy!

Casualties: Unknown is an unforgiving cave-exploration survival simulator. You play as an experiment, a cumulation of genetic mutations used as a disposable unit for dangerous ventures. Your captors have tasked you with retrieving lost cargo on a foreign planet, explore its 11 layers and do your best to survive diverse hostile environments. You will have to monitor your food and water intake, protect yourself from dangers, craft tools, and try your best to descend as deep as you can. You are just one of the thousands of test subjects sent to die.

In this demo, you can play 5 out of the 11 planned out levels featuring the full content of the base game in its current form. Here is a quick overview of what’s in store:

  • An entirely simulated cardiovascular and limb damage system

  • Character traits to increase on your run: Intelligence, Strength, and Resilience

  • Robust crafting mechanics to increase your odds of survival

  • 3 characters with their own distinct playstyles

  • 11 layers of an alien planet with their own challenges and dangers

  • 300 items to find on your runs

  • Adjustable loot and danger values accessible on the main menu

So there it is, that is just the surface of what Casualties: Unknown has to offer. Now I invite you to play it and try it for yourself
