changedThis update is built almost entirely from your feedback — forum posts, reviews and bug reports. Some of these were serious issues that blocked progress, and I'm sorry it took a while to track them down. Here's everything that changed.
fixedIf you started a new game and found every tree in the forest was an unchoppable sapling — that was a bug, not design. World-placed trees were incorrectly starting their growth cycle on day one, so the entire forest was "too young" to harvest and the axe uprooted trees instead of felling them. Fixed: forest trees are fully grown from day one and drop wood as they should. Saplings you plant yourself still grow over time, as intended. A related co-op issue where resource drops could get lost is fixed too.
fixedGift quests now count — the item was being consumed without the counter ever moving. Mine quests now advance correctly when you enter the mine. If you're currently stuck on one, loading your save and entering the mine once will unstick it. Friendship (hearts) quests are now tracked live, however you earned the hearts. Smelting quests count now, including overnight batches. Handing an ordered item to a villager now completes the delivery instead of being swallowed as a gift. If you don't have enough yet, the game tells you how many are needed and keeps your items. 🔧 Bug fixes from your reports Furnace: only the gold recipe worked; copper, iron and palladium always said "not enough materials". The recipe data was malformed — all four now work (and gold no longer smelts from a single ore, that was a bug too). Mine elevator: floors 80/90 couldn't be selected because the panel overflowed the screen. The list now scrolls and works with a controller. Greenhouse: seeds planted inside vanished on the next day. The save system was only recording farmland from the map you were standing on when you slept — greenhouse plots are now saved properly, and the greenhouse grows crops in every season as intended. Achievements: "My Researcher" and "Order Tracker" never unlocked — both fixed. If you already qualify, they'll pop the next time you enter the mine / complete an order. Silo: hay wasn't disappearing — your animals were quietly eating it every morning. You now get a morning report showing how many animals were fed and how much hay is left. Watered soil is now visibly darker, so you can tell at a glance what you've already watered. 🕵️ Caravan theft removed
removedBased on your feedback, the caravan theft event has been removed. It caused more frustration than fun — and it had bugs (the "First Day" guide restarting, a repurchased caravan never arriving). If your save has a caravan stuck in a stolen state, it will quietly return to its pad the first time you load.
added⚡ Performance The game no longer hammers your PC while it's in the background or minimized — alt-tabbing to another game won't tank that game's FPS anymore. Cloud shadows were redrawing far more than they needed to; they're now optimized, with a quality setting if you want them even lighter. Several background diagnostic systems were made much cheaper in release builds. 🛋️ A cozier balance Starting money: 5,000 → 15,000. Buy your first caravan and welcome your first guest right away. Death penalty halved — 5% of your money, capped at 250 gold. The alien's ship repair needs roughly half the materials (310 → 145) and the wait between stages dropped from 12 days to 4. Time now pauses during mini-games — no more fainting mid-puzzle. Already playing? Existing saves get a one-time +10,000 gold on load so you're not behind new players, materials already given to the alien still count, and long alien wait timers are shortened automatically. 🌍 Localization & other A large batch of untranslated text has been cleaned up across all 20 languages; the Indonesian localization, which was showing Hungarian text on many lines, has been rewritten. Steam Deck: the on-screen keyboard now opens reliably for name entry, and a visible version number was added to the main menu (v0.2.0).
changedYour saves are safe. Nothing about the save format changed — just load and continue.

🪓 The big one: trees now actually give wood
If you started a new game and found every tree in the forest was an unchoppable sapling — that was a bug, not design. World-placed trees were incorrectly starting their growth cycle on day one, so the entire forest was "too young" to harvest and the axe uprooted trees instead of felling them. 📜 Quest & progression fixes
The full 50-quest main story has been tested end to end and completes without a single stuck step:
Gift quests now count — the item was being consumed without the counter ever moving. Mine quests now advance correctly when you enter the mine. If you're currently stuck on one, loading your save and entering the mine once will unstick it. Friendship (hearts) quests are now tracked live, however you earned the hearts. Mine elevator
floors 80/90 couldn't be selected because the panel overflowed the screen. The list now scrolls and works with a controller.
Greenhouse
seeds planted inside vanished on the next day. The save system was only recording farmland from the map you were standing on when you slept — greenhouse plots are now saved properly, and the greenhouse grows crops in every season as intended.
Achievements
"My Researcher" and "Order Tracker" never unlocked — both fixed. If you already qualify, they'll pop the next time you enter the mine / complete an order.
Silo
hay wasn't disappearing — your animals were quietly eating it every morning. You now get a morning report showing how many animals were fed and how much hay is left. Watered soil is now visibly darker, so you can tell at a glance what you've already watered. 🕵️ Caravan theft removed

🔭 What's next A world map — by far the most requested feature, and next on my list. More quality-of-life work on the early hours of the game.
Thank you to everyone who wrote detailed reports — special thanks to the player who tested deep into the late game and reported five issues at once; every single one is fixed in this update. If something is still broken, tell me in the discussions. I read everything.
