Big Updates & New Features! 🚀
After a short break over the Christmas and New Year holidays, we jumped right back into full-speed development! While we’ve been incredibly busy improving Bots 4 Defense, we didn’t have much time to stay active on Discord—but that changes now!
Our focus was to complete all the new features in time for the Couch Co-op Festival on Steam, and along the way, we made huge improvements to the game’s mechanics, visual effects, and overall progression system. We’re happy to say that we’ve achieved almost everything we planned, and the game now feels smoother, more dynamic, and more fun than ever!
Here’s a breakdown of the biggest changes: 🔥 What’s New? ✅ Kick Mechanic – You can now kick objects, props, and even enemies to reposition them! ✅ Dash Rework – Dash no longer pushes objects (that’s what kick is for now!), but it helps you cover large distances, jump over gaps, and phase through obstacles and enemies. ✅ Attack Combo Upgrade – Instead of a 3-hit combo, we now have a 5-hit combo, with the final hit dealing the most damage! ✅ Combo Bar – A new combo meter appears below the player's score, filling up as you attack and perform actions. It drains if you take damage, but once filled, you get a temporary power boost! ✅ New Enemy Alert! – Meet the rogue bug that doesn’t follow lanes like other enemies. Instead, it targets the player directly and shoots from a distance! ✅ Progression Overhaul – Unlike the previous demo, not all mechanics are unlocked from the start. Now, players learn and unlock them progressively throughout the game. ✅ Reworked Levels – With all these changes, the game's flow and challenge have drastically evolved, creating fresh and exciting new levels! ✅ Improved Tower Placement – Bouncer and Stomp towers now display their range when placing them, helping players maximize their effectiveness. ✅ Better Character Movement – We fine-tuned character pivots to make movement and direction changes feel as smooth as possible. ✅ Bug Fixes & Polishing – We’ve squashed several small bugs to improve overall gameplay stability and experience.
🎯 What’s Next? We’re not slowing down! Here’s what we’re focusing on next:
🔊 More Sound Effects – We’re adding tons of new sounds to enhance player feedback and overall immersion. 🎨 Visual Improvements – Expect more polish in combat effects and tower interactions to make everything feel more dynamic and responsive. 🔍 More New Features – We have a few exciting ideas in the works, but we’re keeping them under wraps for now! Some will take more time to test and refine, but we’re confident they’ll make the game even better once fully implemented.
We’re excited for you to try out all these updates and would love to hear your feedback! Let us know what you think, and as always, thank you for being part of this journey with us! 🎮💙
