Let's get right into it and start with the biggest change, the controller.

Controller input

We are now confident enough in the controller input to remove it from experimental status. While the prompts still show the keyboard input you can now seamlessly switch between using the controller or mouse and keyboard. Further refinements for the controller input (such as rumbling) will arrive in following patches.

The controller layout:

Updates and Polishes

In the latest patch the following things have been updated and/or polished:

  • UPDATED MAIN MENU - The menu now contains the new key art and switching to full screen snaps the buttons to the lower left corner

  • EXPLODING SKELETON - A new enemy appeared in the Cemetery of the Ignoble, a skeleton that rises from the ground and charges the player.

  • The Options, saves and screenshots folder is now located un User/AppData/Local/Blue_Flame as opposed to User/AppData/Local/BlueFlame_GMS2

  • Input controller has been reworked so that the player now can switch seamlessly between mouse and keyboard or controller.

  • Controller camera movement has been adjusted in a way that it reverts back to the player if the right stick is not used.

  • A quick boss tease against the Maggot of the Underworld has been added to the Last Battlefield

  • Crystal lights are now more dynamic, changing in size and color.

  • Halberd Skeleton now has proper attack and death animations, with correct attack range and angle.

  • Added grass to Aaron's garden in the Crossroad Tavern.

  • When changing rooms the selected spell now stays the same. Before it reverted back to Combustion.

  • Bushes now can be traversed if burnt.

  • Controller setting screen has been removed as it is now obsolete.

Fixes

The following fixes have been added:

  • Daeodon has been banished from the Last Battlefield to the Shadow Realm for causing a crash to desktop.

  • Fixed hitboxes of the graves.

  • Reworked save/load system to circumvent an issues with spells resetting after entering the Cemetery of the Ignoble

There is currently a known issue with the "About the Demo" screen's buttons not snapping correctly to the bottom left. I'm working on it.

What's next?

Hopefully in the following weeks I'll be able to get a new sub-level to the game that acts as a quick-travel point as well as the long awaited options menu. High on the priority list is also the rework of the intro.

I hope You'll have fun in the latest update of Blue Flame

Steve
