The Monument Update Has Arrived

Hi everyone, István here! Its been a long time coming but version 1.2 is finally here and there's a lot to cover so lets get right to it! Monuments Version 1.

addedMonumentsVersion 1.2 is dubbed the "Monument Update" because I've added 5 monuments to the kingdom of Anceps. Without spoiling too much These monuments grant the player passive buffs, such as health regen or longer shields.
changedStat reworksHow the player's stats (HP, Mana and Stamina) are modified throughout a gameplay session have been changed. Previously by defeating bosses the player would gain stats and when igniting bonfires would lose mana (this mana was regainable after defeating the area boss).
changedStat reworksThis system is now completely replaced with a leveling system based on enemy kills. This system allows for a more gradual gain of stats and the possibility to farm levels if someone is stuck on a boss. Every 5th level the damage of the spells gain a small buff as well.
changedOther notable changesThanks to GameMaker Studio 2.3.2 release, an issue with high refresh rate monitors have been solved. Previously this issue meant that anyone running a high refresh rate monitor would only be able to play the game at 45ish FPS instead of the required 60.
addedOther notable changes9slice now have been applied to every UI box on the screen. This improve the clarity of the UI elements and the overall feel of the game.

Monuments

Version 1.2 is dubbed the "Monument Update" because I've added 5 monuments to the kingdom of Anceps. Without spoiling too much These monuments grant the player passive buffs, such as health regen or longer shields.

A monument can be found on each of the main levels of the game. By default the monument menu can be accessed with TAB or clicking the Right Stick on the controller.

Stat reworks

Other notable changes

Thanks to GameMaker Studio 2.3.2 release, an issue with high refresh rate monitors have been solved. Previously this issue meant that anyone running a high refresh rate monitor would only be able to play the game at 45ish FPS instead of the required 60.

9slice now have been applied to every UI box on the screen. This improve the clarity of the UI elements and the overall feel of the game.

Following up with this, the ability to resize the game window while in windows mode have been added. It supports resolutions 720p, 768p, 900p, 1080p and 1440p, but the window can also be manually resized without introducing black bars if the scale is not 16:9.

Small fixes/changes

  • Slight performance improvements were gained due to GameMaker Studio 2 update.

  • The camera does not zoom in anymore while talking to NPCs.

  • Fixes missing gate opening sounds.

  • Improved the textures of the castle palace.

  • Various small things I forgot about.

I would like to thank every one of you who supports the development of the game for sticking with me for so long. Version 1.2 is the most complete version of Blue Flame to date and I hope you have as much fun playing it as much fun I had making it.
