Dear Researchers,

Over the past period, we have continued releasing multiple rounds of fixes and improvements for Before Fate.

Since updates were especially frequent during the previous phase, we wanted to take this opportunity to provide a consolidated summary of our recent maintenance progress, so it is easier to see the current direction of the game and our next priorities.

The game is currently updated to Version 1.0.146.

Recent updates have mainly focused on the following areas:

  1. Performance and Stability Improvements

  • Continued optimizing stuttering related to item adding, removing, sorting, and weapon durability changes

  • Improved projectile cleanup, attack area calculation, and value parsing during scene transitions to reduce unnecessary performance overhead

  • Removed unnecessary log output and disabled some statistics-related logic to reduce additional runtime overhead

  • Improved audio handling. BGM is now preloaded to reduce potential stuttering during playback and transitions

  • Improved stuttering when leaving areas, opening the crafting interface, and crafting in the late game after many recipes have been unlocked

  • Adjusted the default graphics settings on first launch, while continuing to improve overall smoothness and stability

We are also still actively investigating reports from some Researchers regarding performance and frame rate issues, and we will continue to work on further optimizations.

  1. Progression, Quest, and Achievement Fixes

  • Fixed issues that could allow quest items to be obtained repeatedly during certain quest states

  • Fixed issues where re-entering certain scenes could retrigger CG events or allow quest items to be obtained more than once

  • Fixed issues where certain gates, hive entrances, chests, and teleport points could fail to open or function correctly at specific stages

  • Fixed issues involving inaccurate quest location descriptions, abnormal quest checks, and achievements not unlocking properly

  • Added a clear save after finishing the game, and fixed issues preventing some ending achievements from unlocking correctly

  • Fixed issues involving incorrect encyclopedia counts and Boss entries failing to unlock, and improved how locked encyclopedia entries are displayed

  • Removed incorrectly linked equipment from the encyclopedia, fixing an issue that prevented 100% encyclopedia completion

  • Fixed an issue where teleport beacons in Trial Ground -related areas could become invalid

  • Adjusted the prophecy text on the ring monolith before completing the Torch Trial to reduce puzzle difficulty

  1. Interaction and System Experience Improvements

  • Added and improved interaction behavior for scanning, quest tabs, and quest tracking arrows

  • Improved multi-option reading points, storage sorting, NPC interactions, focus switching, and other system usability details

  • Fixed a number of interaction and check issues that could lead to abnormal behavior, black screens, or softlocks

  • Improved response speed in the research interface, crafting interface, and related tab switching

  • Fixed and supplemented some text display issues in Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and English

  • Fixed an issue after old item stack data migration where incompatible new data could leave an occupied slot uncleared when the stack count became 0

  • Removed incorrectly linked armor from the research system to prevent abnormal entries from appearing in research progression

  • Fixed a durability display issue caused by an incorrect item type for the Star Sigil Scroll. This item should be a one-time consumable

  1. Combat, Resources, and Balance Adjustments

  • Adjusted certain Boss phases, enemy setups, and skill behaviors

  • Improved some of Halu’s stats and related interaction logic

  • Fixed missing skill materials for Halu’s Starlight Form

  • Adjusted values related to equipment durability, gathering tools, grenades, resource income, and shop currency

  • Reduced resource pressure in later chapters as progression advances

  • Added Canned Chicken to the Mine Merchant in the later phase to prevent collection issues if it does not appear through random drops

  • Added a Redthorn Hand Cannon placement point in the second monster room of the Redthorn Stronghold

  • Recent updates also further refined enemy warning behavior, random event trigger rates, drops, and encyclopedia-related details

What we will keep focusing on next

  • Further performance and frame rate optimization

  • Continued fixes for progression blockers, abnormal checks, and a small number of high-priority issues

  • Ongoing adjustments to gameplay details and combat balance based on player feedback

Thank you to all Researchers for your patience, feedback, and continued support.

Every report, every bug note, and every gameplay suggestion helps us locate issues faster and helps Before Fate become more stable and more complete.

We will continue to monitor the gameplay experience and keep working on further improvements and fixes.
