Away To The Stars changes
Hi, space explorers,
This update took longer because we’ve been developing a new key mechanic: Crafting. It will first be applied to the closed beta build.
Crafting:
I wanted to make crafting exploratory. You can create meals by mixing different ingredients: proteins, carbs, and vitamins. Every time you create a new recipe, you learn it and can browse it later. You can find crafting stations near statues or houses on planets.
Here are more polishing changes that come with it:
Inventory items can now have random prices when not found.
Food stations can now be found in houses and near statues.
Random loot is now available in outdoor boxes.
Food stations can also be found in space stations.
Exploding barrels are now visible.
Wall elevation is no longer uniform; increased weight for the center tile.
Some trees are no longer transparent when moving away from them.
Added more food, including complete meals, to recipes.
Added new food and description types for each ingredient. Apples no longer provide hunger.
Entering and exiting the main ship now toggles its activation to avoid aiming bugs.
Inventory accommodates new items. Bread added.
(Fix) Death screen text is now smaller to fit.
(Fix) Only city props appear in small cities.
(New) Added a guide for map indicators.
(Fix) Platform shades now display.
(Fix) Added map indicator for mini cities.
(New) Pyramids now have loot.
(Fix) Caravan shadows.
(Fix) Trees now show outlines.
(Fix) Walking dust now consistently appears.
(Improvement) Added a tutorial explaining the relationship between health, hunger, energy, and sleep.
Added swimming sprite to folders.
The player is now shown inside the water.
(Art) Improved water effects on planets.
(Art) More variation in cave floors. Used the same city object for them.
(Fix) Friendly animals now appear in caves.
Fixed caves using excessive memory by removing unnecessary textures.
Enhanced RandomTileTextureGenerator to support weighted tile selection.
Pixel-perfect tile textures for elevations. Created variations in base tiles.
City floors now change between planets.
(Art) City platforms now have their own floor.
(Fix) Dialogues now also show Max's face.
Created elevated walls in cities that toggle randomly.
Items are now created after a delay, with an animation, and can be collected afterward.
Increased resolution for all freighter assets.
Freezing player on landing. Zooming when landing on a planet. Fixed planet zoom issues.
(Art) Improved landing and takeoff animations.
(Art) Improved pause menu.
Polished run-bottom animation.
(Art) Changed diagonal running animations for Max.
(Art) Dash effects now appear in freighters.
Updated shield materials.
(Art) Improved takeoff animation for freighters.
(Art) Space station now shows an animation when the ship leaves, for both newly bought and current ships.
(Balance) Recorded visited stations to avoid exploits.
(Art) Teleport animation now plays when landing on space stations.
(Fix) Exploding barrel errors in space stations are fixed.
(Art) Added animation for landing on freighters.
Landing animations now play when entering a freighter in space.
(Art) Added shade to book pads.
(Fix) Set outdoor boxes layer to "middle".
