As some of you may have noticed, the game's name has changed. It's no longer just Avant-Garde, but Avant-Garde: Napoleonic Battles.

Why the change?

To better represent the historical period that will be covered in the game. Initially, I wanted to make a game that covered several battles from different eras. But after receiving your feedback, talking with more experienced developers, and comparing what's traditionally done in the genre, I decided to stick with the Napoleonic battles. I must also say that it's a period that's particularly close to my heart.

What about the development?

The development has undergone some slight changes to adapt to the feedback you've given me. I'm committed to listening and making sure your comments are taken into account in the development process. Here's a summary of the feedback you've given me over the past few weeks while testing my prototype.

Many of you liked:

  • 🎲 The tabletop battlefield atmosphere

  • ⚔️ The historical immersion

  • 🪖 The strategic foundation behind morale, terrain, formations, etc.

I also understand that there's still a lot of room for improvement:

  • 👁️ In the transmission of information, visual, textual, and tactical.

  • 🧠 By giving units more freedom and intelligence, so they can determine the best combat approach for themselves, for example.

  • 🎮 By having more intuitive controls, such as camera movements, keyboard shortcuts, and more impactful actions.

  • 🤖 By developing a more logical and thoughtful enemy AI. It's true that right now, it's very basic.

In conclusion:

The goal remains simple

to create a Napoleonic tactical experience that gives the impression of commanding a real battlefield of the period.

Your feedback is shaping Avant-Garde

Napoleonic Battles , and this is just the beginning!
