Hello everyone, welcome back to our mini devlog where we talk about what we are currently working on, share work in progress screenshots, and sometimes discuss future plans for Asbak.

changed(NEW) Roguelike ProgressionA good chunk of our month went on working the roguelike progression of our game. Along the game, you will meet the Mysterious Girl , a recurring character that would help grow your demon hunter by offering mysterious powers called Arts . At the end of each level, players can choose between three random Arts to level up. Think of these like nodes on a skill tree, where every choice greatly impacts gameplay. For example, Sam can increase the number of jumps he can do, and Liza can unlock the ability to perform telekinesis. Arts are reset after each run.
addedThe Elixirs (Jamu)We are planning to add an NPC called the Herbalist that provide power-ups in a form of herbal remedies called Elixirs or Jamu . In Indonesia, Jamu is a traditional Indonesian herbal medicine , deeply rooted in Javanese culture, made from natural ingredients like turmeric, ginger, tamarind, and other exotic spices, used for centuries to boost immunity and promote overall wellness. We decided to put our little twist of Jamu in Asbak and plan to make it obtainable for the player either for sale, or as a reward for completing a minigame. Some of the planned Elixirs or Jamu includes Spring Onion Juice that summons a sentient spring onion that will aid you in combat and Rose Water that will compel enemies to confess their love to you.
addedCombat System RevampWe've been showcasing Asbak around local events for the past couple of months and as a result, amassed a treasure trove of feedback . One main thing that seemed to hinder player enjoyment was the combat . It seemed strangely slow for a game that's supposed to be a fast-paced hack-n-slash. And as such, we've introduced two main changes to the game. The first change being that everyone has much lower health . Sam used to have 200 HP, now he has 5 blocks of HP. The second change is that everyone has much higher damage . Through both of these changes, we hope to create an experience that feels much riskier and adrenaline-inducing .

It's been more than a month since our last devlog, we've been working on our closed build of Asbak, and we would like you to take a peek at some of the work that got poured into it.

(NEW) Roguelike Progression
