We continue to work on improving Animalkind and addressing issues as quickly as possible. Thank you to everyone who is reporting issues to us in our Discord or through our in-game survey! This update will address some more common issues that players are likely to encounter.

Summary of Changes

User Interface, User Experience, and Control Changes

  • Addressing an issue where player inventories have an extra slot that is not visible, making inventory actions confusing.

  • Addressed an issue preventing controller players from fully scrolling through the inventory.

  • Making it easier to use the radial menus while using a controller.

  • Made it more convenient when entering design mode by opening the inventory automatically.

Progression Issues and Small Content Changes

  • Addressed a bug where players could become blocked during Sam’s quest line after accepting two quests.

  • Removed an advanced crafting requirement that impeded progress in Sam’s quest line (birch wood required to make the cute bench).

  • Reduced the crafting requirements on some of the fences to make them buildable without hardwood.

  • Reassigned a recipe that Sam wasn’t supposed to know to Steve.

  • Restricted some decorative objects in Snowrock - you weren’t meant to pick these up, they aren’t set up for it!

Other Bugs

  • Addressed an issue where player energy reset when traveling between locations.

  • Addressed an issue where players were unable to sleep in a wilderness region. There might be other causes of this issue though, so please let us know if you still run into this one.

  • Addressed an issue where the mech freezes when trying to back out of design mode.

  • Addressed an issue that might cause the feeling of lag when collecting items.

Content Change - Improved Tallwoods Map

This is the first time we’re making this kind of change, so I want to introduce it properly. We’ve adjusted the map for Tallwoods by smoothing out bumpy areas, fixing terrain issues, adding foliage, and improving bridge line of sight. This improved version of Tallwoods will be playable if you were to load into for the first time after this release. Players that have already started playing in Tallwoods will retain the older version of the map.

Our technology limits us on this right now, we don’t like the idea of existing worlds not receiving these improvements. For those players on the older version of Tallwoods, this isn’t the level of improvement where we would recommend starting over. We will continue improving each map over time.
