What changed

1 fix2 additions1 change0 removals
  • Store
  • UI and audio
  • Gameplay
  • Server
fixedAddressed issues where players lost access to recipes or were unable to buy important items from shopkeepers (e.g., recipe for hazelnut and mushroom spread)
addedAdding a tag in the HUD UI to distinguish the current host of an island
changedWe’ve made a change to make travel between worlds easier to understand when playing with multiple players. Our multiplayer is peer-to-peer, meaning when players are playing together, one of them is operating as the Host and all other players are Clients connected to that Host. Previously, when the Host traveled to a new world, a new Host was selected immediately and all players got a reconnecting screen as they switched to the new Host. This was abrupt and confusing.
addedNow, when the Host decides to travel, a pop up will appear giving them a few options. You can opt to bring everyone in the server with you to the new world or you can leave them behind to select a new Host and reconnect. In either case, more warning is given to all players with a count down before the change-over happens.

We’re very excited about launching Animalkind into Early Access this week! While many players are enjoying themselves, a few common issues are impacting the game right now and we want to address them as quickly as possible. This update should address some of the most common issues. Thank you to all of the players (and your friends) who reported bugs or issues. We appreciate you!

Summary of Changes

  • Changing how world travel works to reduce amount of player reconnection (more detail on this below)

  • Addressed issues where players lost access to recipes or were unable to buy important items from shopkeepers (e.g., recipe for hazelnut and mushroom spread)

  • Increasing the amount of codex fragments that appear every morning, making progress more consistent and finding these fragments less frustrating

  • Making it more clear when inventory is full

  • Making running the default mode of transit, walking now is bound to a key (used to be the opposite)

  • Adding a tag in the HUD UI to distinguish the current host of an island

  • Updates to our localized text (currently Simplified Chinese)

Change to World travel

We’ve made a change to make travel between worlds easier to understand when playing with multiple players.

Now, when the Host decides to travel, a pop up will appear giving them a few options. You can opt to bring everyone in the server with you to the new world or you can leave them behind to select a new Host and reconnect. In either case, more warning is given to all players with a count down before the change-over happens.

We have plans to further improve these Host migration moments, but we hope this will help clear up some confusion in the mean time!

Have a wonderful week!
