changedWith the Modern unit roster now complete, it is time to turn our attention to the Towers that players will use to defend from these units. Modern Towers are generally stronger than Medieval ones, barring certain exceptions (like a 4-5-4 Arrow Tower that builds up enough Attack Speed) but they are also more expensive, both to build and upgrade. Introducing Modern Towers into your defense is a step you must eventually take to handle Modern enemies, but the transition is not simple.
changedThe Machine Gun Tower rapidly fires at nearby enemies, providing reliable sustained damage against approaching forces. This tower serves the same role as the Arrow Tower in the Medieval World, that of a cheap damage-dealing tower. Due to its large attack speed and low damage, it is not likely to overkill its targets by much, making it useful against both single targets and multiple enemies. Its three upgrade paths improve Damage, Attack Speed, and Accuracy, for a big focus on firepower. Its tier 5 upgrades offer a strategic option between maximizing damage or taking on a more supportive role.
changedThe Artillery Tower launches explosive shells over long distances, damaging groups of enemies caught within the explosion. Its Damage, Accuracy, and Range upgrade paths all work towards its long-range offensive capabilities, similarly to the Catapult Tower. Unlike the Catapult Tower however, the Artillery Tower is one of the more expensive damage-dealing Towers in the game, serving as the endgame anchor of a final defensive setup. One of its final upgrades unlocks gas shells that leave a lingering cloud that deals constant poison damage to biological enemies within the affected area.
changedThe Sniper Tower has slow yet powerful attacks. Its upgrade paths improve Damage, Piercing, and Range, fully focusing on maximizing its single-target capabilities. Whatever the Sniper Tower hits, will die. It is very similar to the Crossbow Tower, but even more skewed towards single-target damage, making it extremely vulnerable to groups of targets. While its other paths focus on even more damage, one of the tier 5 upgrades specializes in consistency by allowing its shots to ignore any units standing between the Tower and its chosen target, guaranteeing that the intended enemy takes the hit.

We begin with three dedicated combat Towers, each specializing in a different type of firepower:

Machine Gun Tower

The Machine Gun Tower rapidly fires at nearby enemies, providing reliable sustained damage against approaching forces. Artillery Tower

The Artillery Tower launches explosive shells over long distances, damaging groups of enemies caught within the explosion.

Sniper Tower

The Sniper Tower has slow yet powerful attacks.

These three Towers form the foundation of the player’s Modern defensive arsenal, but firepower is only one way to fight. In the next diary, we will take a look at the Modern Unit production Towers.
