addedHello, and welcome to the fifth dev diary for Anathyma. In this one I will be revealing the final five units being added to the game.
addedEver since the height update, one thing we've wanted to add for a while was airborne units. Taking the fight beyond the ground, these units add a new dimension to fight in, requiring specialized anti-air solutions to fight them. The aerial aspect also gives them an avenue to attack in more dangerous ways.
changedAirplanes soar above the battlefield, making them immune to ground-based attacks. Equipped with a frontal machine gun for engaging enemy aircraft and bombs for striking ground targets, they are a versatile unit that can provide valuable air support while contesting control of the skies, though their light build makes them vulnerable to hostile fire.
changedParatroopers are elite infantry equipped with powerful submachine guns, making them highly effective in close-quarters combat. Dropped into battle by Transport Planes, they can deal massive damage if left unchecked.
changedJust like the SPAA is a unit-based anti-air option, the The Anti-Tank Gun is the unit that exists to counter heavily armored vehicles. Like the machinegunner, it must deploy before firing, but its powerful armor-piercing rounds pass through unarmored targets at reduced damage, guaranteeing their high-piercing shots will reach the heavily armored vehicles or towers behind them and deal devastating damage to their intended targets. In this way, they also serve as a big threat to towers.
addedAnd that's all for the new units! The additional roster will significantly overhaul late-game combat to make it more interesting. Next time, we will begin introducing the options available for players to respond to these units, starting with the new Towers!

Airplane

Airplanes soar above the battlefield, making them immune to ground-based attacks. Equipped with a frontal machine gun for engaging enemy aircraft and bombs for striking ground targets, they are a versatile unit that can provide valuable air support while contesting control of the skies, though their light build makes them vulnerable to hostile fire.

Transport Plane

Built to survive hostile airspace, the Transport Plane is heavier and more resilient than the airplane. The Transport Plane is extremely dangerous because it will attempt to deploy its paratrooper squad deep behind enemy lines, striking your most vulnerable backline towers instead of your frontal fortifications.

Paratrooper

Paratroopers are elite infantry equipped with powerful submachine guns, making them highly effective in close-quarters combat. Dropped into battle by Transport Planes, they can deal massive damage if left unchecked.

SPAA

To fire back against airborne targets, the Self-Propelled Anti-Air provides mobile protection against enemy aircraft. It shares the same chassis as a Tank, with a frontal machine gun allows them to defend themselves against ground units, though the cannon has been replaced with a four-barrel anti-air cannon can quickly tear through airborne targets that enter its range.

Anti-Tank Gun

Just like the SPAA is a unit-based anti-air option, the The Anti-Tank Gun is the unit that exists to counter heavily armored vehicles.

And that's all for the new units! The additional roster will significantly overhaul late-game combat to make it more interesting. Next time, we will begin introducing the options available for players to respond to these units, starting with the new Towers!
