This demo version contains the forest biome only, but if you played the playtest your old worlds and items will remain intact and you can continue to play as usual.

addedMultiplayerFriends can now join your game by right clicking your profile in the friends list and clicking "Join Game". Enjoy playing Allumeria together!
addedMultiplayerSkin support has been added. Skins have lots of layers and quads that provide more opportunity for detail and player expression. The game comes with 4 example skins by default, and you can add your own by dropping skin files into /res/textures/skins/ or by modifying the existing ones. I hope you have fun creating your character! I would like to continue to improve and expand upon this skin system in the future.

Visual Upgrades

  • The player model has been updated to have wider arms (hopefully no more people comparing Ruby to a breadstick)

  • When a held item doesn't have a 3D model, it shows the item in sprite form instead.

  • The water shader has been improved to stencil out objects rendering in front of the water from the refraction.

  • The lighting shader has been improved to better retain ambient occlusion effects when daylight and torches are combined. Builds should now look less flat and have more depth.

  • Brand new textures for the most common blocks, grass, dirt, stone, logs, planks all have new sprites in an effort to give the game a more unique and consistent visual identity.

  • Painting a light source will now also colour the emission texture.

Wires

  • Added the first iteration of a new wiring system. This will work in conjunction with the entwining system to provide more advanced logic capabilities and add more interactivity to player builds.

  • Wires can be painted different colours, painted wires will only connect to wires of the same colour

  • There are multiple logic gates with a flexible I/O system. Each side can be configured to be an input, output, or secondary input (for more advanced gates)

  • The gates are: AND, NOT, XOR, Repeat, Flip flop, and Memory.

  • This system allows for very compact and complex digital circuits.

FAQ

I played the playtest, what will happen to my world?

Your playtest world will be perfectly safe and load just fine in the demo, even if you have items and content that is not in the demo by default. The only change is that for the demo, cheats are currently disabled, so this may affect you if you have a world you use only for building. If this affects you please let me know and I will try and find a solution for you.

Will the demo world be compatible with the full game?

Yes, the demo world will be compatible. It will just be missing biomes from the full version. Characters will also be compatible, so you can move items and resources over to a normal world once the full version comes out.

Are the dedicated servers available?

Right now Allumeria's multiplayer only supports peer-to-peer through Steam. I prioritized this because I felt like it was the easiest way for friends to play together. Dedicated server support is planned but is not currently available.

You didn't answer my question!

I've written this in advance trying to anticipate questions people may have. If I didn't answer yours, please ask in the Steam Forums for the game or reach out in the discord server. I frequently talk to everyone and if I am not around there are many active members who can help. Discord: https://discord.gg/V63tUpTj6g

What's Next?

Well, I am almost certain I will have a lot of work to do over the coming days as the Demo build hits the public. I want to make sure to clean up any new bugs as they come in, and also prepare the game for Next Fest in February.

My plan for the next 20 days content wise is to rework and re-balance a lot of the forest content, then I need to get to work on more content for the full release ASAP.

To everyone reading this, thank you so much for your support. I hope you enjoy playing this demo with your friends. I had so much fun running the last few multiplayer playtests and I hope you have a similar experience.

Thank you everyone <3
