10-Man Idle changes
======================================
10-Man Idle - Patch Notes - Important save game information below.
Version: beta.1.16.14 Release date 7/14/26
Platform: Windows & macOS feature update
======================================
NEW FEATURE: STEAM CLOUD SAVES
------------------------------
Your save slots now sync to Steam Cloud automatically. Quit the game
on one computer and pick up right where you left off on another -
including between Windows and Mac.
Nothing changes about how the game saves on your computer. Your local
save files and the automatic backup system keep working exactly as
before; the cloud is an extra copy on top, not a replacement.
Custom character portraits travel with your save too, so an imported
portrait shows up on every computer you play on.
Syncing happens when the game launches and when it exits. There is
nothing to set up - if Steam Cloud is enabled in your Steam client
(it is by default), it just works. You can turn it off per-game under
Properties > General > Steam Cloud if you prefer local-only saves.
IMPORTANT - IF YOU PLAY ON MORE THAN ONE COMPUTER
-------------------------------------------------
The very first time each computer syncs, Steam makes the cloud copy
the master. In practice: the first computer you play on after this
update uploads its saves, and the next computer you play on will
RECEIVE those saves - replacing what is in the same slots on that
computer, without asking.
If you keep DIFFERENT playthroughs on different computers under the
same Steam account, do these two things BEFORE the update:
Decide which computer's saves should become the master copy, and
make sure the games you care about are in the slots you want.
Make a manual backup of your saves on EVERY computer you play on
(instructions below). It only takes a minute.
After the first sync on each computer, normal conflict handling takes
over: if two computers ever disagree, Steam shows a dialog and lets
you choose which copy to keep.
HOW TO MAKE A MANUAL BACKUP OF YOUR SAVES
-----------------------------------------
Windows:
Make sure the game is closed.
Press Windows key + R to open the Run box.
Paste this and press Enter:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\\10ManIdle\\Saves
A folder opens containing your save files:
guildSave_slot1.json, guildSave_slot2.json, guildSave_slot3.json
plus a "portraits" folder if you imported custom portraits.
Select everything in the folder, copy it, and paste it somewhere
safe outside the game folders - for example a new folder on your
Desktop or in Documents named "10ManIdle save backup".
Mac:
Make sure the game is closed.
In Finder, press Cmd + Shift + G (or menu: Go > Go to Folder...).
Paste this and press Return:
~/Library/Application Support/10ManIdle/Saves
The same save files are here:
guildSave_slot1.json, guildSave_slot2.json, guildSave_slot3.json
plus a "portraits" folder if you imported custom portraits.
Select everything, copy it, and paste it somewhere safe - for
example a folder on your Desktop named "10ManIdle save backup".
To restore a backup or mix and match save files from different computers later: close the game, copy your backed-up guildSave_slotN.json (N = 1,2,or 3) file back into the same Saves folder (replacing the file that is there), then start the game. The restored save loads normally and becomes the copy that syncs to the cloud the next time you exit.
The game also keeps its own automatic backups in the "Backups"
subfolder next to your saves. Those stay on each computer and are
never overwritten by the cloud - you can restore them from inside
the game if you ever need to.
FIXES
-----
Custom character portraits imported on one computer now display
correctly when the save is loaded on a different computer.
