Yots changes
Steam Next Fest kicks off today, which means everyone will finally get a chance to try the Yots demo and embark on their first expedition into the Mist City.
To help answer some of the questions you might have about the game's mechanics, we've prepared a short guide to help you get started.
I launched the game and spawned in the lobby. What should I do?
First, head down to the shop on the lower floor and buy some equipment.
Not enough money? No problem - you can always grab a free weapon. Sure, a wooden stick may not look very impressive, but it's still better than venturing into the City empty-handed.
How do I start an expedition?
First, talk to Yots and find out what quota he wants you to fulfill this time.
Once you've done that, head to the ritual circle and begin the ritual that will transport you to the Mist City. Important: only the lobby host can start the ritual, so make sure they're the one interacting with the ritual circle.
What does the timer in the top-right corner mean?
The timer shows how much time remains before the victim's mind begins to collapse. Each expedition can be roughly divided into two stages:
During the first stage, the City retains its familiar appearance. Players explore streets and buildings, fight monsters, collect artifacts and valuable items, and gradually work toward completing the quota.
When the timer runs out, the second stage begins - the Collapse. The ritual victim's consciousness starts to break apart, and the City gradually sheds its human features, revealing its true form. Anything left behind once the Collapse is complete will be consumed by the City forever. These are your final moments to finish the expedition and escape.
How can I tell how much health I have?
Every cultist wears a special medallion on their back.
When your health is full, the medallion remains colorless. After taking damage, it begins to glow red, and when your health reaches a critical level, it starts flashing urgently.
Death, however, leaves its mark. If you are brought back to life through resurrection, your medallion disappears for the rest of the expedition. The same thing happens to the player who performed the resurrection.
From that point on, you'll need to pay closer attention to your condition and communicate more with your team, as there will no longer be a reliable way to check your exact health status.
How does stamina work?
The stamina bar is located in the bottom-left corner of the screen. If your stamina drops to a critically low level, sprinting and dodging become significantly less effective.
Once your stamina falls below 20, it can only be reduced further by enemy attacks. If that happens, your character will be stunned, which can easily cost you your life at the worst possible moment.
How do I return from the City?
To complete an expedition, return to the arrival point where the victim and the ritual circle are located. Perform the return ritual, and you'll be transported back to the lobby.
Once you're back, you can turn in the completed quota, collect your monetary reward, purchase new weapons, and prepare for the next expedition.
Good luck in the Mist City, cultists! And try not to stay there for too long.
