We audited every system in the game end-to-end — how money, diplomacy, politics, war and time interact — and rewired everything that wasn't pulling its weight. The result: a world that behaves more like the real one, from January 2026 to 2085.
SMARTER, MORE BELIEVABLE AI • Nations now act on ideology and historical grudges — old rivalries genuinely bias decisions and fade only slowly. • Allies honor their defense pacts with each other; your reputation affects who shows up for you. • No more mixed signals: a country can't threaten you and offer a treaty in the same month. • Your sanctions now hurt your own exporters too, scaled by how much you trade with the target. • Nuclear deterrence is real — you cannot invade a nuclear power without a credible deterrent of your own. • Microstates no longer issue ultimatums to superpowers, and AI-vs-AI wars now end with visible territory changes.
POLITICS WITH REAL CONSEQUENCES • Governing a democracy below 20% approval now triggers no-confidence motions — and eventually a forced snap election. • Your cabinet's quality now amplifies or weakens your policy outcomes. • One-party states rubber-stamp laws instead of holding phantom parliamentary votes. • Autocracy is a trap, not a cheat: as legitimacy erodes, staying in power costs more and more. • World leaders age and hand over power. Interest groups can launch real strikes.
HONEST ECONOMICS • Industrial subsidies now show up in your deficit instead of silently piling onto debt. • High inflation now costs jobs; long booms gradually reduce inequality and poverty. • Crisis price tags scale to your economy — no more $120B emergency bills for tiny nations.
THE LONG GAME • Campaigns no longer go quiet after 2060: two new world eras ("Fragmentation or Renewal", "The Long Horizon") and late-game rise-and-fall arcs for all twelve great powers. • Aging crises scale with how old your population really is — and immigration policy can soften them.
JANUARY 2026 ACCURACY • 90+ countries now start at their real debt levels (Japan 235%, Tuvalu 8%), with real inflation and unemployment extremes (South Africa, Venezuela, Argentina...).
FIXES & POLISH • Fixed "32 Apr" — old saves with a corrupted date now repair themselves on load. (Nitram68) • Crisis cards now name the right country — a domestic attack is an attack on YOUR nation. (Nitram68) • Province-mode map scrolling optimized again: all region styling is now cached. (Nitram68) • Law notices, build-order continuity between map and Infrastructure, and the title-card flicker fix from earlier this week are included.
