Within the Cosmos changes
Update 27/12/25: Hotfix v2.2c has been released addressing additional mission progression issues, Photo Mode improvements, stability, and general fixes.
Update 21/12/25: Hotfix v2.2b has been released addressing mission progression, side mission, audio, UI, and gameplay issues reported after this update.
Update 20/12/25: Hotfix v2.2a has been released addressing early issues reported after launch, including software upgrades, movement bugs, missing map display in Alios, and UI feedback.
Hi again everyone! As Within the Cosmos nears its 9th month since launch, I’m happy to release another update: v2.2.
First of all, thank you to everyone who has purchased the game over the last couple of months and supported development so far! Your support has allowed me to keep improving Within the Cosmos, and to potentially continue pursuing game development as my career, as there’s nothing I enjoy more than working on games.
In an effort to continue improving the game, I’ve made a number of additions and fixes, all available now with today’s update.
Here’s what’s included:
Steam Badges & Trading Cards
Within the Cosmos now has Steam trading cards, emoticons, wallpapers, and badges!
New Features
Introduced 'Photo Mode', giving players full control over camera, framing, and screenshots.
Added character creation archetypes, allowing players to choose a predefined starting playstyle.
Added two new melee weapons: Baton and Axe.
Implemented a console command system, which enables players to experiment or use cheats ;).
Introduced flying enemy types to increase combat variety.
Added a new flying 'Drone' enemy (which can be found in Alios)
Players can now repair armour.
NPCs now react to dead bodies, improving world reactivity.
Added a new software: a drone ally that assists the player in combat encounters.
Added a new software, Digital Shroud, allowing players to make dead bodies invisible.
Gameplay & Balance
Rebalanced 'SONIS-R' software.
Rebalanced 'Time Dilation' software.
Reworked 'Energiser Circuit' upgrades to provide stronger bonuses per level.
Updated the 'Energiser Circuit' description UI for clarity.
Fixed issues with certain upgraded software not functioning correctly.
Fixed a bug preventing proper software levelling.
Quality of Life
Added more NPCs to New Haven.
Updated meshes in Pearl City.
Updated textures on several Pearl City meshes.
Added the ability to quit directly from the character creation screen.
General Fixes & Changes
Fixed achievement unlock issues.
Fixed a bug where pressing the 'I' key during character creation would remove the UI.
Adjusted misaligned UI elements in the character creator.
The 'Naqri' creatures on Berith II now also target bandits & Enlightened soldiers on sight.
Fixed issues with the 'Naqri', who previously didn't react when shot from a distance.
Fixed a bug where the UI wouldn't show the 'Torch' option for gamepad users in the weapon wheel.
Fixed a bug that could cause invisibility issues when pressing the Z key.
General performance improvements and optimisations.
