Wildsite changes
It’s been a while! We know you’ve been patiently (or perhaps not-so-patiently) waiting for an update. Over the past year and a half, the game has been evolving... a lot.
As a small team, it’s tough to keep shouting about every little change when the foundations are still shifting. So, to finally pin down our ideas and visual direction, we decided to go radio silent until we were absolutely sure about what we were building.
And now? We’re sure.
A New Look: From Low-Poly to Stylized
The most obvious change is the graphics. We’ve moved from a bare-bones low-poly look to a much richer, stylized aesthetic.
Bob cuts in:"Ah, yes, 'stylized.' That's AI-speak for 'We finally made it look like a game instead of a bunch of brightly colored cubes.' Don't worry, the planet is still 100% full of plasma, which is all that really matters."
Don’t panic about performance, though. We’ve kept a strong focus on maintaining those smooth frame rates and the overall polish of the game.
Major Systems Completed and Rebuilt
In our time off the grid (which, for a crash-landed survivor, is a compliment), we weren't just staring at plasma. We were busy getting these core systems fully functional:
Mobility: Swimming is finished! (Good luck finding a body of water that hasn't been superheated by plasma, though.)
Survival: Crafting and Saving progress are locked in.
Combat: Both Melee fighting and Range shooting are now solid.
Enemies: Enemies AI is complete—they're finally smart enough to stop running directly into walls or plasma pools. Mostly.
We also tackled the mountain of a system that was mining. It was a massive challenge that turned out to be less scalable than we initially hoped, so we completely rebuilt it. It’s now ready to handle whatever you decide to drill into.
Story, Quests, and the Demo Horizon
Beyond the mechanics, we’ve made huge progress on the narrative side:
We’ve been deep in development on the story and the new quest system.
The dialogue system is also in place, ready to handle the witty, sarcastic thoughts Bob have
And finally, the moment you’ve been waiting for: We’ve been working on a demo for over four months, and it’s almost complete! The demo will offer the first 3 hours of gameplay and we are aiming to release it this year. We just need a little more time for final polishing to ensure your first trip to this plasma-soaked world is perfect.
Keep an eye out for more news soon! We promise the silence is officially broken.
Cheers,
The Dev Team
