Treasure Hunt Overhaul
In our latest Dev Update, Dustin went over the design philosophy and intent for Treasure Hunt, alongside uncovering the truth about Grant’s insatiable bloodlust.
If you know, you know. Good thing Victoria was there!
NEW PLAYER ONBOARDING
One piece of feedback that resonated with us was the desire for more ways to learn the game and to get engaged with the game, with time to learn all of its nuances. There’s a lot of stuff going on with Wildgate, and we wanted to be able to teach players while also giving a more substantial PvE experience for players who prefer playing that way.
MORE DANGER, MORE LOOT
Loot has been revamped in Treasure Hunt to emulate a more extraction-focused system, which means more time exploring the Reach and trying to survive its dangers. As you make your way through the Reach, you’ll discover a new loot item, Tomes, which can be used to progress through the Reach zones. Each of these Zones will become more difficult as you progress, but with great difficulty comes great loot.
(GHOST) SHIPS PASSING IN THE NIGHT
The Ghost Legion had its own tuneup, and you’ll be stalked once you start picking up more loot. These Ghost Stalkers will relentlessly chase you across the map, and will grow in difficulty the more you progress. You may need to ally with other player ships to take them down, but be careful of being double-crossed.
A wide array of different enemy AI ships awaits, and they get deadlier as you progress through the maps. Each Zone will have a new type of enemy ship awaiting those who dare try to take them on. Steam post image
EARN CHIPS
As you complete the missions available in each Zone, you’ll be able to earn more Chips, which lets you purchase perks that power up your ship through various means such as starting hardpoints and more ship health. These will be vital in surviving the deep Zones.
REACH ZONES:
Vortex Wilds - Start here! This is the first Reach map available, and will be the best way for new Prospectors to get used to the Reach.
Cryonic Rift - Difficulty jumps up a bit, but is still manageable for new Prospectors.
Dead Worlds - No health regen in POIs, scarce resources, and deadlier Ghost Legion ships await.
Gloam Expanse - All of the above, dead sensors, and a Bounty Hunter ship.
Vortex Deeps - Multiple Cosmic Storms, 3 potential Artifacts to find, and a Deepnaught Legion Ship that guards your escape.
NEW STARLOG: TREASURE HUNT
A new Starlog exclusive to Treasure Hunt mode is coming to Wildgate to give Prospectors an edge in higher-difficulty Reach zones such as Gloam Expanse or Vortex Deeps. The perks unlocked in this Starlog will not be available for other Wildgate game modes, so you can rest easy!
Perks and enhancements in the Treasure Hunt Starlog focus on increasing your ship’s power at the start of each game so you’re ready to dive into a POI with some reassurance that you’ll be ready to withstand enemy or AI attacks. Starting perks include:
Starting Hardpoints, such as a free Smuggler’s Turn
Turrets such as the Quad Cannon and Displacer Sniper Cannon
Increased ship health, armor, starting ammo, and even resources
Unlock and begin your Treasure Hunt journey right. Steam post image

One of our most popular community requests is on its way! With Patch 1.5 players will be able to browse, search, and join public lobbies, or send and receive invites for private matches. There’s also a custom tagging system, so you can jump into the type of game you want to play.
