Hey everyone,

Just wanted to say thank you for being here and taking a look at Widle, the little game I’ve been working on. Getting it on Steam has been a fun learning experience. This is the first game I’ve ever really tried to make, so I’m happy to try and get it going in the right direction. I have a big list of things to work on, and I'll try and tackle them week by week.

So far, I’ve been working on things like:

  • Real-Time Growth While Playing — your plant progresses in real time while Widle is open, so you can check in anytime and still have progress,

  • Config-Driven Content — all plant types, pot designs, and desk items are built from easy to edit data files, making it quick to add new decorations or other things when I want

  • Sturdy Save System — coins, growth stages, and unlocked items are saved locally, with optional Steam Cloud sync to keep your garden safe.

  • Clean, Intuitive UI — the shop, inventory, and achievements are just a click away and scale smoothly to any resolution. , am hoping to get this working smoothly aswell.

  • Smooth Animations — frame-by-frame sprites and subtle tweens bring each growth phase and menu transition to life.

  • Soothing Audio — gentle ambient sounds, water drops, and UI clicks, all with adjustable volume settings that save between sessions.

What’s Coming Next?

Well kinda everything you seen above, I’m also starting to work on background minimization in the near future, where you can place a plant anywhere on your screen and choose whether to show just the pot and plant, or maybe keep the desk background visible, still deciding.

I still have lots of logic to clean up and fix, like balancing growth timers, coin collection pacing, and when different events happen. That will take some trial and error over time plus learning to make the sprite animations.

In the future, I’d love to add themed items, more plants, and decorations and hopefully include some community requests if people enjoy the game.

There’s still a long way to go before I think about a full launch, but I wanted to leave this quick update here to share what I’m working on and what’s coming.

Thanks again — Grey Developer of Widle
