Choosing the Theme
For us, it was important to make a game we truly enjoyed ourselves. As a team, we all shared a love for medieval settings, and that was the one thing everyone agreed on from the start. But we also felt that medieval on its own wouldn’t be enough.
We needed to add something more. While thinking about what that could be, we decided to start with the characters. We asked ourselves, how will players represent themselves in the game?
The first idea that came to mind was cute frogs. Then we thought, maybe cats, because we all love cats. And really, who doesn’t? There could have been cute characters like hedgehogs or little elves. I’m sharing their early concept art drafts drawn, and I’ll be posting them on our discord and other social media accounts soon as well.

But still, there wasn’t much of a connection between those characters and the idea of magic. We needed something that would link the medieval world with a sense of mystery and the supernatural.
That’s when the idea of voodoo dolls came up.
The voodoo doll character had everything we were looking for. The needles added the creepy, dangerous feel we wanted, while the plush, cotton-filled body gave it a soft, almost toy-like charm. It perfectly matched the strange, twisted vibe we were going for.
With all these ideas in mind, we started experimenting visually to create a unique voodoo doll character. When we saw the result, we all immediately loved it. That’s when we decided on a twisted medieval voodoo setting for the game.
The story behind how that character was actually drawn is coming in the next dev diary!
