Devlog #5 - Weather, Statement On NOT a Cancelled project.

So, let's get to it. Not gonna lie, took a small break on the project, though it wasn't truly a break since I've been learning on tools to help me progress with the project.

changedWell, I'm a student, and I'm learning how to properly make 3D models, not bad ones with poor topology, this means poor performance, and overall just bad looking models. So, that's why I remade a lot of things so far. Such as the main menu, it was full of poor models. Now, I moved from Sketchup to Maya as stated before, and I'm just learning from school and getting the best I can at it. Give me some time, of course. I've been making small models for the background, just haven't imported it into the scene, but now I'm back into the game development thing. We're so back.
changedAlso, with the weather, comes with certain idle animations. In certain weather conditions, or certain areas, Frei will gain access to different idle animations. If it is raining, he may do something like this:
changedIf it ISN'T raining, he won't have access to that idle animation anymore, he'll do a completely different idle animation. If it is dry, he may kick the ground, or something like that, dunno. Haven't animated it yet. I'm animating stuff that consist of their personality. Though, the animations are not finished, know this. I'm still tweaking stuff, as well as the art. I may still change Frei, the main character when it comes to his art. The whole style may change, who knows. I just have to stop being lazy, haha.

I was working on this project daily for the past few months. So that's great! I'm a college student and mixing this is not great, haha. But to me, it's still a huge dream to get this out there.

Anyway, let me show off what I've been doing.

I made some weather stuff for certain areas, this may be dynamic, actually. I'm kinda pushing for it to be a dynamic system. Meaning rain in the town, sometimes it won't. Maybe a day and night system, just maybe. It's something I'm thinking about because the story, of course.

The stormy weather is still in testing, and with the GIF form, it may be hard to see as well, but there is rain, haha. If I turned it up any further, it would be extremely annoying to the player. I may tune and change this out, though.

Anyway, that's a lot so far. I also want to say something else, depending on how slow the work on the project may be, keep remembering, I'm a solo project worker, know I'm NOT going to cancel the project. This is a dream project, and I'm not going to give it away and give up. The only way this is getting cancelled is if some company gives me a cease and desist, but I'm smart not to really worry about copyright issues, don't worry. (though, a lot of references, will be coming, ha.)

Last time, naw. This project isn't cancelled, it's just slow in development because yay. I'm a solo dev trying to get through college and life.

Now that I'm back into the development grind, I'll try and update more frequently, and I'll have more on the Steam page, as it looks more pretty now.

Anyway, that's really it for now. Not the best devlog, but it's something for now. I promise to have more on the next one!
