Dev Log #1: Welcome To The Neighbourhood
Starting with our new trailer! We’re excited to share what is at the beating heart of Wax Heads...
Your new job at Repeater Records...
In Wax Heads you work in a store called Repeater Records, where in your role you will deduce the perfect music experience for customers based on clues from their interest and mood. Customers will then let you know what they think of your choice! Did you make a rad or sad recommendation?
It’s deeper than the music...
You will meet a full cast of wonderful and interesting characters, including your motley crew of colleagues who share strong opinions in all things music and community.
Especially the headstrong founder of Repeater Records and your boss, Morgan Macintyre, who back in the 80s, before music retail fronted the popular and iconic band “Becoming Violet” along with her sister Willow. Sadly, the band had an ugly breakup, and the two sisters haven’t spoken since.
Much like in the real world, there’s an ongoing battle between independent community space and oppresive gentrifying corporations. Repeater Records is currently under threat from a greedy landlord who has no interest in the cultural signifance of the store. He’s willing to sell Repeater to highest bidder who so happens to be an ex of Morgan and her old band...
The importance of community...
One of the main themes we wanted to explore in Wax Heads is What makes a community?
Once such advocate for community through the power of music is Hank, your resident punk-rocking colleague who has been playing in bands his whole adult life.
Tee, the youngest and most cynical of the Repeater Records crew struggles to understand why someone would dedicate so much time to something that keeps ending in crushing disappointment. Particularly after hearing about Hank’s recent disastrous gig with his band, Da Knees.
Meanwhile, Abi, Repeaters ambitious riot-girl discovers for herself the impact you can have on those around you when she gets to perform live for the very first time. And, for Hank its more than just a pastime, it makes him who he is.
We're releasing in the first half of next year!
And yes, the big news! We’ll be releasing Wax Heads in the first half of next year on both Xbox and Steam!
(which I can tell is getting really close because I wake up every day terrified and excited!)

And speaking of community, we're making one on discord! It’s gonna be a place where we can show some of the cool development we’re making, share and hear what music we’re all listening to, and most importantly... where we can see what records people have in their collection!
