Wax Heads changes
Thank you for your consideration of becoming the newest employee at Repeater Records.
We know it can be daunting starting in a new place of work, especially one as prestigious as Repeater. That is why we have prepared this handy infomercial to onboard on what you can expect on your first day...
Dev Log #2: Your New Job At Repeater Records
Rothio Tome, one half of Patattie Games, and Creative technical director on Wax Heads, will walk you through what you should expect in your new role, if you are successful in your application. Please take it away Rothio!
Welcome to your new job...
As Repeater Records newest employee, each day starts with getting the shop ready and hearing the latest drama from your colleagues. Then it's time to welcome in the wonderfully endearing customers. Despite their (mostly) friendly appearances, they’ll keep you on your toes with their charming but often vague vinyl requests.
Your job is to decipher their perfect music recommendation, by looking through all possible clues; the store’s records, social media, local music zines and hidden within the environment and on the customers themselves.
Once you think you’ve deduced the right album, you'll ring it up on the till and get a rating from the customer based on how well you've matched their request. Sad, Meh, OK or Rad!
The importance of connection...
Ratings may result in fabulous prizes, but recommending records goes deeper. We see this with Rashida, whose Dad recently died. She’s inherited his record collection and wants to use it as a way to understand a part of her Dad she didn’t really know.
He was a big heavy metal fan and she wants to add a meaningful record she knows he was after. The problem is she doesn’t remember the band or album name, only that they had a song in their joint favourite horror film “Decaying Debbie” and he saw them on a tour called “Huff & Puff”.
Motivated to help, we explore the store and find the Heavy metal records upstairs. On the wall is a poster for the “Huff & Puff” tour by the band Snarl. So far so good - but there are still two Snarl records in the next room to choose from.
Once we dig a little deeper, we find out in the liner notes of one of the albums that the song “Hell Fish” was used in the film “Decaying Debbie”. We’ve found our album which will hopefully bring Rashida a moment of connection with her late Dad. Let’s hope we see her in the store again soon to hear what she thinks about Snarl.
Plenty of surprises to discover...
You can find many more surprises within Repeater Records like 'Diggy Doggo' which was a game I developed for Indie Spain jam where I was awarded Best Solo Developer. You'll get a chance to play and discover other hidden secrets for yourself in early 2026 when the game will be launching on both Steam and Xbox. Keep a look out for more videos leading up to launch and remember se me cuidan gente! Rothio!
We hope you feel more informed about what it’s like to work at Repeater Records, especially since the grand opening inches ever closer....
Join in on the fun with other candidates...
It's company policy to inform you that we are currently sharing extra information for prospective employees, including; music recommendations, anecdotes, WIP development of Wax Heads and bad jokes in our discord. Join now right here!
(We're not saying joining will guarantee your selection as an employee candidate, but it certainly won’t hurt...)
There are more details still to come, but for now, take care and keep on spinning!
