What changed
- Performance
At this stage of development, we’re focusing not only on new features, but also on improving the existing parts of the game. In the previous devlog, we showed how we create character portraits directly from their in-game 3D models — using updated lighting, improved skin shaders, and better hair textures. And while working on those new portraits, we had a thought: Why apply these improvements only to the character editor? So we decided to bring the same visual upgrade to the entire game. ✅ Warhounds now has updated lighting across all base ship compartments. We spent some time improving the lighting in every major area of the base ship: 🛏️ barracks 🚁 helipad 🎧 helicopter briefing scenes 🍽️ wardroom ⚕️ medbay …and more. The goal was simple: make characters and environments look sharper, smoother, and more realistic across the whole game. Most importantly, we didn’t notice any FPS difference. That means the new lighting settings improved the visuals without hurting performance. Better image quality.
