Had we known the game designers were going to shut themselves in a secret room and perform dark rituals to the Chaos Gods, we probably would have stopped them... but we didn’t know, and now, Warhammer Survivors has been invaded by the forces of Chaos. Just what you need in a game full of pixelated carnage!

Well, it’s too late to stop the rituals, so we might as well take a deeper look at the two new enemy factions announced in our Skulls Trailer: the disgustingly resilient Death Guard and the bloodthirsty Blades of Khorne.

Who are the Death Guard of Warhammer 40,000?

The Death Guard are heretical Chaos Space Marines who worship Nurgle – the Chaos God of decay, disease, and despair. Few armies are as durable and resilient as these heretics, swollen by Nurgle’s blessings of mutated, pus-filled flesh. These feculent fiends march relentlessly into battle, shrugging off salvos that would shred mere mortals. The Death Guard’s approach is slow but ultimately inevitable.

Let’s look at just some of the Death Guard enemy units you will face in Warhammer Survivors.

Myphitic Blight-haulers

Nurgle not only corrupts flesh, but also engines of war. The Myphitic Blight-hauler is a horrific amalgamation of putrid flesh and corroded machinery. Myphitic Blight-haulers speed into battle, devouring the filth of the battlefield and enshrouding themselves in a noxious smog.

In Warhammer Survivors, Myphitic Blight-haulers bombard the player from a distance with a barrage of disgusting frag missiles, which explode on impact, afflicting the player with the Poisoned status effect.

Beasts of Nurgle

The Beasts of Nurgle are simple-minded entities, grotesque and nightmarish. These daemons delight in toying with their victims, crushing them with their bloated mass and writhing and wriggling entanglements of tentacles.

Beasts of Nurgle charge toward the player in Warhammer Survivors, only stopping to regenerate themselves. When close to death, these horrifying, slovenly daemons become deadlier, entering a frenzy before exploding!

Miasmic Malignifers

Ew, yuck, what is this boil-ridden furnace? That, loyal citizen, is a Miasmic Malignifier. These chimneys are used by the Death Guard to pollute a planet, belching out toxic fumes and spreading spores of deadly pathogens throughout the environment.

In Warhammer Survivors, this stationary enemy (which is particularly resilient) emits pockets of noxious fumes that poison the player if they step into its radius of gross green fog.

Alongside these enemies, you may have no doubt spotted a number of different enemies, from Poxwalkers and Plaguebearers to Plague Marines and Blightlord Terminators. There are even a couple we’ve not even shown yet 👀

Who are the Blades of Khorne of Warhammer Age of Sigmar?

The Blades of Khorne are murderous, bloodthirsty and savage legions of daemonkind and mortal warriors. They are devotees to the Blood God, Khorne, dedicated to the crusade of spreading wanton destruction in his name. War is his game, and anyone willing to spill blood or claim a skull in Khorne’s name will be rewarded. Blood for the Blood God, skulls for the Skull Throne.

You know the drill by now; it’s time to look at some of these bloodthirsty berserkers!

Flesh Hounds

Flesh Hounds are relentless hunting beasts, whose brass collars ward away the most potent sorceries. Displeasing Khorne will have you marked for the Flesh Hounds’ attention, and they will stop at nothing to seize their quarry within gnashing jaws, utterly consumed by fury.

In Warhammer Survivors, Flesh Hounds move at exceptional speeds, hunting in packs and rapidly swarming the player.

Bloodcrushers

Daemons riding daemons – or rather, unholy fusions of daemon and machine. Bloodletters ride upon Juggernauts, and together these mighty hulks of muscle charge their victims as battering rams of utter destruction.

In Warhammer Survivors, Bloodcrushers rear up to charge, highlighted by a red telegraphed zone and then launch forward, only stopping if slain! Kill them before the charge to avoid taking heavy damage.

Skull Cannon

Many followers of Khorne look unfavourably on ranged weapons as they are impersonal and lacking. But those that decimate their foes and provoke the most primal terror? That sounds more agreeable. The Skull Cannon is a wretched fusion of a daemonic spirit and hellforged machine capable of quite literally hurling freshly flensed skulls at the enemy.

In Warhammer Survivors, they operate in the same manner, bombarding screaming, fiery skulls towards the player with explosive force.

As you can see, a whole manner of daemons march alongside the mortal ranks of the Blades of Khorne, swollen with Bloodreavers and Blood Warriors. Let us know if you spotted any other terrifying forms from the Skulls Trailer.

CAN ANYONE STOP THEM?!

Fortunately, an entire host of new characters have joined our rosters of Imperium and Order champions to stand against the foul forces of Chaos!
