Exploring the Biomes of Wardrum

In Wardrum, you will lead your Warband across multiple biomes on their quest to remove the dark sorcery that is plaguing the lands they call home. You’ll adventure, loot, fight, die, and adventure all again across a wide range of biomes on your mission towards the unknown mystery that is infecting the mountain tops and the surrounding lands. Expect to explore the following locations on your adventure:

  • Shioso Plains

  • Red Desert

  • Everlit Crypt

  • Ominous Swamp

  • Rhythm Jungle

  • Black Mountains

At the start of each run, you’ll start from your settlement in the Shioso Plains, facing down somewhat easier foes in bandits, mongrels, rogue shaman and archers, as you build your Warband's strength, abilities, trinkets and level-ups.

After conquering a location, your Warband will get a choice of two biomes to venture to next on their journey to their ultimate destination of the Black Mountains. To safely reach the mountains, which are overloaded with offbeat rhythms, they need to clear a total of 3 biomes in their run to weaken the offbeat magic protecting them from reaching their final destination

If your Warband heads towards the Red Desert, they had better be prepared to fight all foes in perilous conditions, such as sandstorms. Expect fierce opposition in this biome, including Bloodmancers, Wild hogs, flying Stingwings and Burrowing Worms that like to play hide and seek, or in their case, hide and kill, as they burrow underground before lunging up from beneath your Warband and making short work of them.

Be sure to avoid the hazards that litter the battlefields of the Red Desert, such as the dangerous spike traps and cacti, or use them to your advantage by pushing your foes into these deadly objects and making them pay for attacking your Warband.

The Everlit Crypt is a seriously spooky location that you can send your Warband towards. Expect to find undead. Lots of the undead, also, Necromancers, who enjoy bolstering their forces with even more undead warriors to halt your progress.

Also, watch your step in the dark and dangerous Crypts, as they contain a sure-fire way to end your Warbands run with pressure plate traps, triggering very sharp and point spike traps.

The Ominous Swamp was once a peaceful community belonging to the Goblins. Since the purple star fell on the lands, that has all changed. The Goblins have turned, and will attack anyone who enters the swamp.

That includes you and your Warband. The Goblins wield long-range harpoons and aren't afraid of getting up close and personal with your Warband in their fights. They are formidable foes that will throw their harpoons and reel your units into their grasp, ready to dispatch your units to an ungraceful end at the bottom of their swamps.

The Rhythm Jungle is dark and full of terrors. Giant Toads, Giant Mosquitos and other Giant Insects that are dying to infect you with poison and other contagious ailments.

We’d also recommend you keep your eyes peeled for all manner of booby traps, launching giant logs swinging down into your unsuspecting Warband's path, causing massive damage. Bring plenty of healing items if you dare to journey into the jungle.

If your Warband makes it towards the Black Mountains, congratulations, your tactical and rhythmic skills have served you well. Your reward? Battling powerful cultists, abominations and powerful magic beings. Get past them? You’ll be ready to take on the final boss of the run.

We hope you and your Warband are ready for their ultimate test…

Launch Timing

We’re super excited for the Wardrumming community to start playing the game as soon as possible, which is why we’re thrilled to reveal that the game will be going live on Steam at 17:00 BST.

Rhythm Difficulty Options

We’ve seen some players worry that a Rhythm game might not be for them. We understand that sometimes rhythm games can appear daunting, so that's why we’ve added an option for you to adjust the difficulty of the Rhythm Phases of gameplay.

If you choose to set this to Easy, the game will compensate for the timings of the beat inputs, making it easier for you to hit those perfect notes and perform abilities more effectively! Easy mode will also make it less punishing to your units when you miss a beat too, making the game a little more forgiving while you practise your input timings.

Wardrum PC Specifications

We want you to have the best experience possible with Wardrum, so we’re going to highlight the minimum and recommend PC specifications that the game will require to give a smooth experience, so you can nail those perfect beats every time, and not give you the excuse that your PC performance was the reason for your run ending prematurely. 😅

Minimum:

  • OS: Windows 10

  • Processor: Intel Core i5-6400 or AMD Ryzen 3 1300

  • Memory: 8 GB RAM

  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780, 3GB or AMD Radeon R9 380, 4GB or Intel Arc A380, 6GB

  • DirectX: Version 12

  • Storage4 GB available space

Recommended:

  • OS: Windows 11

  • Processor: Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 3 2300X

  • Memory: 8 GB RAM

  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070, 8GB or Radeon RX Vega 56, 8GB or Intel Arc A580, 8GB

Wardrum on SteamDeck

We’ve seen a lot of questions about whether Wardrum will be playable on SteamDeck. Right now, the game at launch will have the “Playable” Status, but we are aiming to get that elusive “Verified” badge post-launch!
