addedThis month I didn't release a new alpha build mostly because I am working on things that are taking longer than expected, but also because I wasted several days when my laptop decided to abandon me. The fact that February is a 28 days month didn't help either, even if having 2-3 extra days would have not made a huge difference anyway.

Welcome to a new dev-log about all the main news and updates from the month of February 2026.

This month I didn't release a new alpha build mostly because I am working on things that are taking longer than expected, but also because I wasted several days when my laptop decided to abandon me. The fact that February is a 28 days month didn't help either, even if having 2-3 extra days would have not made a huge difference anyway.

The truth is that good things take time and I am taking the time they need to do them right. Check out the "What's next" section below to see what's going on with the release and when to expect it.

Main updates

These are the main new features and changes I worked on during the month of February 2026.

New resource: research points

Now the research center can generate research points, which are a new resource to manage in game.

Your production can be controlled allocating resources in a dedicated dialog. Money, material and energy are mandatory to produce points, whereas blobs and diamonds are not, but they can increase the production.

Tech upgrades

Once you have generated enough research points you can spend them in a new dialog where you can unlock many tech upgrades.

Upgrades are divided in 5 categories and even if I only implemented a few for next release there will be hundreds in the final game.

New mission goals

I created 12 new mission goals to expand the existing ones. Now they are more than 30 and I am planning to add even more in the future.

I also recorded a live coding session while working on some new code for the mission goals dialog, in case you missed it you can watch it on YouTube.

New exploding loot box

I introduced a new loot box that offers better rewards, but it has also a chance of exploding when you collect it. The explosion will damage and maybe kill your unit, so it's up to you to decide if it's worth the risk or not.

I also redesigned the graphics of the standard loot box, which is now smaller and brighter.

Minor updates

Some other changes worth a mention are:

  • Loading screens are now divided for game areas to reduce memory usage

plus many other minor fixes and changes that you will find in the changelog of the 0.6.0 build.

What's next

I am planning to release next alpha version (0.6.0) in 1-2 weeks, before the 20th of March.

This is how the roadmap looks at the moment:

I am currently working on a new iteration of the UI, so expect to see new screenshots in my store page by the end of the month.
