Work on the game continues, and today I want to share the results of a major and important update—the interface of the strategic mode. The interface has become clearer, more logical, and more convenient.

Here’s what the “Capture the Flag” mode screen now looks like.

Let’s break down each element and its purpose in more detail.

Top Panel

At the top of the screen, you’ll find information about the course of the battle and quick access to the squads created by the player.

Buttons “1,” “2,” and so on allow you to quickly switch between these squads. A squad is created by selecting any group of units and assigning it a hotkey.

Victory points in the “Capture the Flag” mode are also displayed here. You can see the side, the number of points gained, and the controlled flags. The filling circle indicates a flag that is currently being captured.

In the corner, there is a panel with reinforcement points, army size, a resource counter, and the pause menu. Reinforcement points are awarded for controlling flags.

Right Panel

On the right side of the screen you’ll find:

  • A quick-switch button for entering and exiting the third-person direct control mode. One click—and you’re already on the front line, seeing the battle through a soldier’s eyes. Control switches to the fighter closest to the camera center.

  • Support panel: artillery, reconnaissance, bomber, and assault aircraft.

Recon removes the fog of war from selected areas of the map, while artillery and aviation clear the way for advancing squads. Each support call requires resources and has a cooldown.

  • Below is the reinforcement call panel.

All units here are divided into types, and within each type you can choose a specific squad or vehicle. Calling reinforcements consumes resource points, which the player gains by holding flags. Different types cost differently; for example, heavy vehicles are more expensive than infantry.

Left Panel

On the left are the buttons for squads created automatically at the start of the mission or those that appeared after calling reinforcements.

The weapon icon represents the branch of troops, and the dots show the number of units in the squad.

Bottom Panel

At the bottom of the screen is the menu of fighters currently selected on the map.

You can see portraits and main characteristics of each unit (type, health, weapon, etc.). The backpack icon lets you open a fighter’s inventory with one click, and the checkmark-with-portrait icon switches to direct control of that specific unit.

This is also where you’ll find the movement command panel: prone, crouch, and stand.

Formation panel. With one button you can choose the desired formation: wedge, line, column, and so on.

Action panel: throw a grenade, place a mine, repair, exit a vehicle, etc.

The mini-map is located in the lower-left corner.

Battlefield

There is plenty of useful information on the battlefield too. Friendly units display an icon showing their weapon type.

This makes it easier to find the fighter you need. For example, an automatic rifleman or a sniper.

You can also see the influence radii of commanders and supply trucks.

Steam post image

Commanders inspire nearby soldiers, increasing their effectiveness, while supply trucks provide units within range with ammo and supplies.

A yellow chevron icon above a soldier shows that he has gained experience during battle.

The battlefield also displays the movement direction of a squad. After selecting soldiers and selecting a direction, an arrow appears, visually reminiscent of troop movement markers from strategic maps.

By the way, if you hold Shift while choosing the direction, you can set multiple points on the map, so the units follow a specific path rather than choosing their own. It’s also useful to set a formation (line, wedge, column, etc.). For example, if you want units to follow a vehicle and use it as cover.

We’ve worked long and hard to achieve this result, aiming to make the controls as functional, convenient, and intuitive as possible.
