Velocide Overdrive changes
Update 1.1.0 is here!
The 1.1.0 update for Velocide Overdrive is here. It brings 4 new power-ups, 2 new arenas, a new elimination effect system, 7 new music tracks, a new special round, several buffs, Steam interface improvements, and bug fixes.
New power-ups
Vampirism (3 s) — transforms all opponents into bats, making them extremely difficult to control.
Psycho (10 s) — creates a zone that inflates any player or AI that enters it. As long as they stay in the zone, they keep growing. After 2 seconds of cumulative exposure, they explode.
Cavalry (4 s) — triggers a lance charge that impales any player in the path and carries them to the arena wall. On impact, the lancer is violently thrown backward. Speed progressively increases from 1.3x to 3.5x during the charge.
Water Bubbles — launches 3 to 6 bubbles. Any player who enters a bubble, except the launcher, is trapped inside for 5 seconds. Bubbles can be destroyed by projectiles or other effects. Their lifespan ranges from 4 to 8 seconds.
New skin unlock system
Skins can now be unlocked through cumulative survival time, in addition to the number of achievements. The longer you survive across your games, the more content you unlock.
Unlocks by survival time:
Spider — 15 minutes
Vampire Bat — 1 hour
Rafale — 3 hours
Apache — 5 hours
Achievement-based unlocks remain unchanged. The Hydra skin has been reworked and is now Pulsar, with a carnivorous plant theme.
New arenas
Angelic - Divine — unlocked at 35 achievements
Bloody Moon — unlocked at 30 achievements
Elimination effects
New customization system for the effect displayed when a player is eliminated. Each effect has its own visual animation and sound.
Unlocks:
Ghost — 5 achievements
Tombstone — 10 achievements
Bubble — 15 achievements
Lightning — 20 achievements
Splat — 25 achievements
Angelic — 30 achievements
Implosion — 35 achievements
Combustion — exclusive to the Supporter Pack
New music
7 new tracks join the soundtrack:

Nocturnal Redline
Ashen Requiem
Hellfire
Scarlet Covenant
There Are No Heroes
Redline Reaper
"There Are No Heroes"is the theme for the new special round.
New special round: Frenzy Round
The Frenzy Round can appear once per match.
During this round, power-ups spawn every 1.5 seconds instead of 2.5 seconds.
Power-up balancing
Spikes
Spike thickness increased by 25%.
New value: 3.2
Old value: 2.56
Hyperspace
The dash now crosses the entire arena, reappears on the opposite side, then returns to the original position.
Distance is now dynamically calculated based on arena size.
Previously, the distance was fixed and shorter.
Boomerang
Range doubled, making it much more effective at long distance.
Nerfs:
None.
Visual improvements
Express — now generates a blood splatter when a player is eliminated
Bulldozer — icon and in-game visual reworked
Igloo — icon and in-game visual reworked
Pulsar — icon and in-game visual reworked
Abyss — anchor visual reworked
Freeze — added an ice cube melting indicator to better see the remaining time before you can move
Diablo — visual effects reduced to improve performance
New player experience
Default AI bot count set to 5
Achievements are now active from the very first game
Default keys fixed (Player 1 = arrow keys)
Player names now display in the selected language
The number of rounds required to appear on the leaderboard reduced from 15 to 10
Steam
Remote Play Together — the invite button now directly opens the Remote Play Together overlay instead of the friends list.
Bug fixes
Fixed a crash caused by elimination effects under rare timing conditions
Fixed AI collision detection, which now correctly accounts for size differences between players
