Update 2.2.0 — The Trials of Veles

Clearing the campaign is no longer the end of the hunt. Update 2.2.0 introduces the Trials of Veles: an escalating endgame ladder that pushes the Crimson Rift far beyond Damned difficulty. The update also adds three equipment slots, the first Epic items, a full elemental damage system, and a complete rebuild of the Veil of Damned.

The Trials of Veles

  • Seventeen escalating trials. Complete all 15 campaign levels to unlock Trial I. Every trial after that must be earned by defeating the one before it.

  • Enemy power from +5 to +1000. Each trial increases enemy health and damage on the Crimson Rift at Damned difficulty.

  • Increasing score rewards. Trial I grants +25% score, scaling up to +425% at Trial XVII.

More equipment and a new rarity

  • Three new equipment slots. Gloves, belts, and boots expand the loadout from five slots to eight.

  • 54 new items. Each new slot contains 18 pieces to find and build around.

  • The first Epic items. A new rarity above Rare adds 24 Epic items—three for every equipment slot.

Elemental damage

  • Fire, cold, lightning, and poison are now full damage types, alongside physical and magical damage.

  • Heroes and enemies now have matching elemental resistances, opening new build choices and counters.

  • Pure damage has been removed from normal combat calculations. Forced effects such as out-of-bounds damage now bypass hit resolution directly.

The Veil of Damned, rebuilt

  • 51 modifiers, each with five levels. Stronger levels create harsher runs and award larger score bonuses.

  • Rarities replace the old tiers. Modifiers now range from Common to Legendary and use the same rarity language as loot.

  • Unlock modifiers by surviving them. Win on Broken or Damned with a locked modifier active to keep it at level 1.

  • Craft levels 2–5 using components, Hunter's Trophies, and Tomes.

  • Equip up to three owned modifiers and choose the contract you want to fight.

  • Every modifier now has new artwork, rewritten effect text, and full English, Russian, and Simplified Chinese localization.

Balance, interface, and fixes

  • Broken and Damned now apply visible resistance penalties, and the hero stat panel reports the effective values.

  • Updated Paragon stats for all five heroes, with additional item and ability balance changes.

  • Reworked the run result screen and improved inventory and modifier interactions.

  • Replaced menu panels with native boxes for cleaner scaling across resolutions.

  • Fixed Bash being able to chain into a permanent stun on enemies.

  • Fixed several modifier, item-scaling, stat, and unlock issues.
