Unwanted Dungeon changes
I've been closely following your feedback since launch, and I've worked hard over the last few days to bring one of the most requested features by the community, along with a major change to how you manage items during exploration.
🎮 100% Gamepad Support
The framework for playing on a controller is completely finished and 100% functional!
Universal compatibility: The game is now fully compatible with official Xbox and DualShock (PlayStation) controllers, and has also been meticulously adapted for generic joysticks. It works on everything.
Steam Deck support and others handheld devices!
Dynamic UI: The UI prompts have been fully adapted. This means if you are playing on a controller, the screen won't tell you to press "Space" anymore, but rather the bottom button (South) of your controller. I used the Xbox color scheme as a visual reference, but the button placement is very clear and intuitive for any type of controller you are using.
🎒 Pausing in the Inventory and Skill Tree
From now on, the game will automatically pause whenever you open your inventory or your skill tree.
I'd like to take this space to be very transparent with you about this change:
Since the early playtests, testers always mentioned that the game should pause in these menus. It's something I purposely developed without pausing and ignored all requests until now. My idea was simple: to cause anxiety knowing that something good is in your inventory, but that you shouldn't equip it in the heat of the moment, but rather in the calm at the end of the stage. Consequently, I wanted to reward players who got good at the game over the runs, those who could recognize and equip items in the middle of the action.
The thing is, I understand the game is not made for me, but for the player. If most of you feel it's necessary to take a pause to breathe and think about your build, then it's necessary to have a pause. We'll do some testing with this over time to see if this change is beneficial to the game's flow or not. I hope you like it, and let me know what you think!
🛠️ Minor Tweaks and Fixes
I took advantage of this update to include some minor improvements and fix issues you reported:
Visuals: Some animations and fade effects now continue running smoothly even after the game is paused, making the visual experience much more pleasant.
- BalanceAdjusted the price (in magic crystals) of some permanent upgrades at George's forge.
- Bug FixFixed an issue that caused a softlock if the player died while having the "Cheat Death" item equipped.
Thank you so much to everyone who is braving the dungeon and leaving feedback. Keep sharing your thoughts and any issues you find.
Good luck (and happy surviving) down in the depths!
