Howdy, gunslingers!

The Year 1 roadmap is officially in the books. It has been a massive year for the frontier, and we are capping it off with a heavy-duty update focused on stability, performance, and a variety of quality of life improvements to ensure your runs feel better than ever.

Combat & Bosses

  • Resolved an issue where the Stage 4 miniboss bull charge would incorrectly attach to the player.

  • Changed boss barrels to regular timed explosives to address frame drop issues during the fight.

  • Fixed a UI error in Stage 2 where the boss health bar showed the incorrect name.

  • Removed the "destructible objects drop items" boon for now; it was simply overperforming in the current balance.

Weapons & UI Improvements

  • Changed the flamethrower projectile UI sprite from red to white to allow projectiles with status effects to be much more legible.

  • Fixed a bug where the UI failed to show a visual count for flamethrower projectiles when using Poisoned Lead or Medusa Whiskey.

  • Fixed an error message triggered when flamethrower projectiles hit armored enemies.

  • Added a new visual cue in the Gun and Whiskey shops where the purchase button now highlights if you lack enough currency.

  • Updated Steam Rich Presence to reflect the new bosses added throughout 2025.

System & Stability

  • Squashed a memory leak that was causing intermittent crashes.

  • Fixed AudioManager errors that could lead to game instability.

  • Added a backup save system where a file is created and updated every time you change levels.

  • The game will now automatically pause when you Alt-tab or the game window loses focus.

  • Fixed an error where explosive barrel fireballs were attempting to check for player boon status trails.

  • Increased the scrolling speed of dialogue text to keep the pace of the game snappy.

Thank you for riding with us through this first year and for all the feedback that helped us reach this point.
