Hunters! This patch is a big one: over 40 bug fixes from a full code audit, headlined by a complete repair of Steam Cloud saves and a fix for the Floor 13 boss soft-lock. Francine assures us she was "only hoarding a few" of these bugs.
Major Fixes
Steam Cloud saves now work correctly. Progress now restores properly on a new machine, and a stale cloud file can no longer roll back or overwrite newer progress. If you play on multiple PCs, this one's for you.
Fixed the Doomknight soft-lock. When Doomknight's Undying ability revived it, the battle froze and the run was lost. The fight now continues as intended. (Floor 13 runs, you are avenged.)
Crash-safe saving. Saves are now written atomically — a crash or power loss mid-save can no longer corrupt your save file.
Auto-save actually auto-saves. The 30-second auto-save only triggered while standing perfectly still. It now saves during active exploration, so chest loot and pickups between battles survive a crash.
Battle Fixes
Throwing a disk during an enemy's defeat animation no longer catches a "ghost" and double-counts the battle result.
Shrine of Capture's guaranteed catch can no longer capture Hoople trainers' Typomon (skipping the whole team fight) or bosses you haven't unlocked catching for. The blessing is no longer wasted on invalid targets.
Neutron Pulse no longer reduces your own damage — it now only weakens the enemy, as designed.
Splash damage abilities no longer send out the next Hoople Typomon already defeated (it now survives with at least 1 HP), and splash HP now displays correctly.
Evolved Typomon now keep their evolved form's rarity and receive its HP bonus — evolved partners are no longer weaker than wild-caught ones of the same species.
"Forgive 3 typos" (Absolux, Titanbark) is now actually obtainable — the roll was secretly capped at 2.
Absorbing a duplicate no longer loses your Typomon's Bond HP bonus.
The Codex "Defeated" counter now tracks your victories (it was stuck at 0 forever).
Fixed several cases where battle effects, sounds, and log messages could trigger twice or not at all.
VR Battle Fixes
Sentence-completion abilities (Surge Protocol, Glyph Surge, healing abilities, and more) now actually trigger in VR battles. They never did. We're so sorry.
Typomon banked after a defeat no longer enter VR battles at 0 HP — all team members now start at full health.
Typo forgiveness and on-typo abilities (Thorn Guard's reflect and friends) now work in VR.
Bond level-ups earned in VR now correctly apply their HP bonus.
Pressing ESC in a VR battle now asks you to press it again before forfeiting the whole session.
Fixed a performance leak after forfeiting during a wave break that slowed the game until restart.
VS Battle Fixes
Accidental spacebar presses at the start/end of a sentence are now forgiven in VS, matching dungeon battles.
The "Combo" stat now shows your actual combo (it was showing total characters typed).
Typo and combo-break sounds now play in VS battles.
CPU opponents now keep one typing speed for the whole battle instead of secretly re-rolling it every sentence.
Removed a timer bar that implied time pressure that doesn't exist in VS.
UI & Quality of Life
TAPE typing mode no longer drifts sideways during long battles until the text scrolled out of view.
You can now actually name your spliced Typomon — the rename window after a Data Splice never appeared. (The first-splice celebration from Dr. Professor now plays too.)
The conversation after your first defeat, and Gadget's shop-unlock chatter, are now visible — they used to play "invisibly" while eating your keystrokes.
Tutorial dialogues no longer pop up on the wrong screen if you back out quickly, and no longer get marked as seen without being shown.
Your player name and Typomon nicknames now pass through the name filter (the permanent character name skipped it).
Menu music now plays on the starter select screen.
Banking a Typomon with a USB Stick no longer silently changes which Typomon is active.
Cloud Backup no longer merges a spliced Typomon into a regular duplicate of its base species.
Evolution sparkles no longer jitter, the encounter transition no longer stutters, and Francine's Cache cursor actually blinks now.
Fixed the character editor preview briefly showing the wrong colors when clicking through options quickly.
Performance & Under the Hood
Memory usage reduced by roughly 500 MB — the soundtrack now streams in as needed instead of being fully decoded at launch.
Smaller install size (removed development-only libraries from the shipped build).
A large internal stability pass: dozens of fixes preventing stuck timers, double-triggered effects, and state desyncs.
Security hardening for the game window.
Thanks for playing — now get back in there and mind your typos. Dr. Professor is watching your WPM.
