Triple Swap Tower changes
v3 "MYSTIC FORCES" Change-log
Version 3, dubbed MYSTIC FORCES, brings three new heroes to the roster, a bunch of new items, and a filled out vault screen. Read onward for more details:
New Heroes
Boomeranger
A knight who throws out boomerangs that can hit enemies on the way out, and on the way back! The Boomeranger rewards good aim, and has a minigame of setting up hits on the attack's return by dashing right after you attack. Your boomerangs slightly seek you out on the return arc, even if you swap from the Boomeranger to someone else.
Assassin
A holy assassin who fires out daggers in all directions when attacking. Bringing another "wave-clear" style hero to the roster, similar to the Wizard. Not quite as good in that regard, but she has her own unique strengths and build paths that shine through.
Summoner
They summon beasties to take down enemies while you focus on avoiding the threats. The Summoner is the first hero in the "mage" column that has a non Magic or Holy damage typing, instead using Sharp type attacks that zip around and seek out enemies. They start off on the weaker side, but can become a true powerhouse when they level up!
New Items
The shop in town has gotten some new stock in! The 3 options of items stays unchanged, but there is now a 4th option that pulls from the 9 new items added in this update. These items are only accessible through this new slot. They mostly focus on more utility type uses, and a handful of them are consumable, in the sense that once they're triggered and used, they're gone.
Three additional new items have been added to the game's final areas. I made the cheese wheel spawn in the special item chest on the 4th floor of every final area as a placeholder. Each final area now drops its own special item that can give you an advantage in the final battle.
Vault Screen
In this update I finished out the Vault screen, adding a page for your heroes and their stats, as well as a page for the items you can find and use. It's been fun checking in on these stats, as they've been saved since the beginning but just haven't been accessible in-game until now. I've got a couple thousand kills tallied on Skeletons so far, and 170,000+ damage done with one of the heroes. Take a look! Each entry also has some flavor text attached, so if you're interested you can get a taste of the character's stories and the world's lore.
Hero Ability Info
Under the heroes tab in the Vault, you can also view their pool of skills by pressing the Confirm button while viewing a hero. Maybe this can give you ideas on how you want to build them in the future?
Adjustments, Fixes, and Minor Changes
Samurai's attack pattern has been adjusted. It now targets the closest enemy instead of being directional. With how fast he attacks, having him be auto-aim makes him feel a lot snappier, and overall more fun to play.
Dodge chances have been tuned. Your character now has a base dodge chance of 4%, and every point in Mind and Body gives that chance +10%. These numbers shouldn't be all that different, unless you would find yourself stacking 8-9 Mind & Body on a character, which used to give you effective invulnerability. There is now a hidden cap.
Dodging and Dashing has been correctly fixed in ability and item text. Dodging is a passive effect where when you are to take damage from an enemy, the game rolls to see if you dodge, and if you succeed, you instead go invulnerable for a split second. Dashing is when you press the Dash button and do a invulnerable roll. Prior, these two terms were accidentally used in place of each other in some tooltips.
In the hero select screen, the damage type each hero has is not displayed without a number attached. All heroes have their base damage type at level 1, so I removed the number on the menu for better readability.
Fixed a bug where the player was sometimes unable to unlock a character when winning a run.
Fixed a bug where when you'd fulfill unlock requirements for two separate characters at the same exact time, you'd only unlock one of them.
Added a "Coming Soon..." option on the main menu. Something is in the works for the next update. I didn't get it all finished and tested in time for this update, so stay tuned!
I'll see you this Summer with TST's next major update, adding more heroes, and new challenges for brave adventurers to conquer. As always, thank you so much for playing Triple Swap Tower! I'm really proud of how this has all shaped up. I hope you enjoy putting together crazy teams from the increasingly large roster. If you have any feedback, or want to reach out, feel free to do so on our Discord or through the Steam boards!
