2025-07-30 Alpha 0.18

After this quite long time without an update rest assured that there has been a lot of conceptual work done in the background. So many ideas, and so little time...

  • Changed the sound attenuation so that the explosion of fixed targets sounds more natural

  • Implemented the client-2-server-2-clients communication for the different game modes

  • Added a message queue to display server messages to the player

  • Made the server realize when player destroy fixed targets (to count the achieved goals)

  • Learned that "Bf 109" has to be written with lowercase "f" for historical reasons.

  • Fixed some colliders

  • Had a lot of ideas

  • Fought an intense battle against the urge to overscope. Again. It's a tough opponent.

  • Fixed the radio in the kitchen now playing music - and added some sound attenuation

  • Fixed the collider of the toaster in the kitchen. Would be a shame if somebody would avoid a crash!

  • Removed the main menu scene (to make room for another idea I have in mind)

  • Vastly reduced the file size of the shipped game

  • Added some **really simple** water to the bathtub. No caustics, no ripples, no physics (yet)

  • Got distracted by my cat that insisted on sitting on my hands while I try to write code

  • Fixed an issue with the Bf 109's landing gear that made the aircraft tip over while taking off

  • Lost nearly two entire days figuring out why the shipping build keeps crashing when compiling for DX12

  • Reverted to "Development build", which results in much greater file size, but allows for DX12 support

  • Added a fairly simple dialogue to select between a few available missions

  • Fixed an issue that sometimes made the elevators' steering angle overflow

  • Learned about a better way to do screen capturing for video footage

  • Got side tracked
