Windows 11 Smart App Control Launch Issue

Hello, I'm the developer of Three Kingdoms: Alias.

We have identified an issue affecting some Windows 11 systems when launching the game.

“This file was blocked by an application control policy.”

Error code: 0x11C7

This is not a problem with the game's internal logic or save data. It occurs when Windows Smart App Control treats the v0.5.2 executable as a new file and blocks it before the game process starts.

This issue is not limited to Three Kingdoms: Alias. It has also been reported intermittently in some Steam and indie games recently.

We have submitted the v0.5.2 executable currently distributed through Steam to Microsoft and requested a review of its Smart App Control classification and a possible false positive.

The review may take several days or longer, and the exact completion time depends on Microsoft's processing. Once the review result is applied, the game may be able to launch normally without disabling Smart App Control.

Please Check This First

In your Steam Library, right-click Three Kingdoms: Alias and verify the game files in the following order.

Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files

After verification is complete, fully restart your PC and launch the game again.

If You Need to Launch Quickly

If you need to launch the game before the Microsoft review is complete, disabling Smart App Control through the following path may allow it to run.

Windows Security → App & browser control → Smart App Control settings → Off

Note: Turning off Smart App Control can reduce the level of security protection in Windows. In some Windows environments, resetting or reinstalling Windows may be required to turn the feature back on. Please make sure to review the Windows guidance shown on screen before changing this setting.

If you do not want to change your security settings, we recommend waiting until the Microsoft review result has been applied.

We are continuing to monitor the Microsoft review and will provide another update as soon as the result or follow-up measures are confirmed.

We apologize for the inconvenience.
