Security
addedEach map in Thick As Thieves is divided into sub-areas. Individual rooms are part of a larger network of spaces designed to push players between safe locations by passing them through unsafe ones. This alternating rhythm is key to stealth gameplay, and the ability to change the state of the space to influence this rhythm is a critical Imm Sim element of the game. On Novice difficulty, every area has a single security configuration (e.g. guard and device placement) so even brand new players can understand the challenges and learn how to overcome them.
changedMeanwhile on Thief difficulty, each area has an additional configuration which is randomly swapped in. On top of that, the alternate configurations have additional security elements. This means that as well as paths sometimes being blocked and objectives being in different locations, security switches up, keeping things fresh. Your reward? Playing on Thief gives double the experience and loot!
changedMaster Thief is its own configuration designed to be the ultimate test of your ability. More guards, more Haunstables, more security, and less time to gather loot in Cleanout Heist. Currently, fewer than 1% of players are in the elite club who have completed a match on Master Thief. To unlock this challenge and the opportunity to earn triple experience and loot compared to Novice, complete Contract 16. If you really want to test yourself, try it without tools - our QA folks can do it!

Our captains at the guild report that you are making remarkable progress and the fences are “processing” the spoils of your adventures. Reports are also coming in that a surprising number of thieves are still playing on Novice rather than venturing into Thief difficulty. Only the bravest few have even tried Master Thief. For those of you who haven’t ventured into the depths, we thought we’d explain the differences.

We are thrilled that you’re finally experiencing the world of Kilcairn and understand that you want more. Right now, the best way to experience variety is attempting higher difficulty levels. While our current focus is on patching issues, we’ll have more to say about the game’s future roadmap in the coming weeks.
We appreciate everyone who has played the game, left us a review, recommended us to a friend, and helped identify the issues that we’re fixing.
Stick to the shadows and never let them hear you coming.
