星象迷案 The Zodiac Mystery changes
Three Full Chapters, Over Twenty Possible Endings Await
Developed by the independent Chinese studio LazyBoy, The Zodiac Mystery is officially participating in Steam Next Fest 2026 with a limited-time demo. This is not a trimmed-down teaser. The demo includes the first three full chapters, each distinctly laying the groundwork for everything that follows. You will move from a shadowy studio full of old secrets to a quiet seaside villa where the air feels suffocating. With every change of setting, the truth edges closer.
Three Chapters, One Escalation
The demo traces the case from its first faint stirrings to the moment when the surface begins to crack.
Chapter One: The Star Chart’s Reawakening A twenty-year-old cold case resurfaces when a mysterious diary is discovered. Revisit the original crime scene and start your investigation over from scratch, collecting fragments of evidence while confronting the unsettling notion of a so-called “astrological sacrifice.”
Chapter Two: Tangled Fates As your investigation deepens, key figures from decades passed gradually emerge. Every exchange carries weight, and every object has the potential to become the hinge on which the entire case turns.
Chapter Three: Fractures in the Truth Clues converge, but so do contradictions. What feels like clarity may simply be the beginning of another deceptive path. This chapter plants decisive seeds that will branch into radically different outcomes later in the game.
Multiple Endings
Even within the demo, you may brush against the earliest branching points of the narrative without fully realizing it. A line of dialogue chosen, a lead pursued first rather than later, a suspicion entertained too long: all of these can shift the trajectory. The game’s “Dynamic Truth” system treats truth not as a fixed destination but as a field of possibilities. What you believe to be certain can unravel in seconds.
And yet the demo only reveals the outer edge of the design. The deeper storms lie in Chapters Four and Five. In the full release, more than twenty endings unfold across diverging narrative paths. Some offer fragile warmth. Others close in with suffocating finality. Each conclusion is a meditation on memory, fate, and the uneasy shape of human nature.
Core Design: Criminal Investigation Meets Astrological Interpretation
The Zodiac Mystery is not a conventional object-hunting puzzle game. Astrology functions as a narrative framework, a symbolic language woven through character relationships, motives, and thematic structure. The act of investigation becomes both forensic and interpretive. Evidence is gathered, but it is also read, mapped, and refracted through a constellation of personal histories.
At the center of the experience lies the “Dynamic Truth” system, the game’s most ambitious design choice. The story unfolds through a multi-threaded structure in which investigative order and player judgment reshape what follows. The suspect you felt certain about may collapse under a single overlooked clue. The design mirrors the instability of real investigative reasoning, where theories evolve and certainty is always provisional.
A Note from the Developers
“We are not just telling a story about finding a killer. We are exploring distorted memories, the complexity of human motives, and the way truth erodes under the pressure of time. We built a narrative labyrinth filled with possibility. The key belongs to the player.”
This demo exists to gather unfiltered feedback on pacing, logic, and first impressions. Every playthrough, every suggestion, feeds directly into refinement and iteration.
There is no single truth; your reasoning shapes the outcome.
